Colts vs. Titans Betting Analysis

Thursday Night Football gets a fantastic matchup in Week 10 as this is a critical game in the AFC South. The Titans are slight favorites in this contest, which is quite surprising given their recent success at home. They've won four of their last five games at Nissan Stadium and have now won nine of their previous 12 games, with their only losses coming against the Chiefs, Steelers and Bengals. The loss against Cincinnati was disappointing, but Tennessee has mostly been fantastic going back to the end of the 2019 season and its playoff run.

The Colts, on the other hand, have been widely inconsistent this season. Their five wins haven't been all that impressive, coming against teams such as the Lions, Jets and Bengals. However, there are some reasons to feel optimistic about Indianapolis, such as allowing only 266 total yards to the Ravens in Week 9. Still, road teams traditionally struggle on Thursday Night Football and in divisional games. Wager at BetMGM on the Titans to win outright.

As for the point spread, it is worth mentioning how underwhelming the Titans have been in that area this season. They’ve covered in just three of their past nine games and have been especially atrocious on Thursday Night Football. Over the last decade, the Titans have covered only twice in seven Thursday games.

The Colts haven’t been much better against the spread this season, going 4-4. But what is more concerning is that Indianapolis has failed to cover the spread in six of the past seven games against AFC opponents. Teams have figured out how to slow down the Colts’ passing attack and Philip Rivers has been among the league’s worst quarterbacks this season, especially when it comes to turnovers. Whenever the Colts have to rely on Rivers to convert on big third downs or at the end of a game, he hasn’t had much success.

As bad as the Titans’ defense has been this season, it’s tough to trust Rivers on the road on a short week. Tennessee allows the fourth-most passing yards per game this season, but the Titans have the pass-rush and secondary to figure out to slow down opposing offenses. Take the Titans to win and cover this small spread at DraftKings in what should be a fun AFC South matchup.

As for the point total, Thursday games tend to be high-scoring. But both of these teams want to establish the run and the Colts don't have any way to generate big plays on offense with T.Y. Hilton out of the lineup. Expect both sides to run early and often in this game, setting this one up to be a 23-20 type of contest. Bet on Under 49 points with BetAmerica as this game could be slow and sloppy to start.
