The Mavericks struggled in the NBA Bubble during the final eight games of the regular season and lost their final two seeding games. The Clippers have won all three matchups in this season thus far this season and enter the postseason on a mini two-game winning streak.

Kawhi Leonard helped the Clippers sweep the three-game season series between the two teams. He scored 36 points and posted 11 rebounds in a 110-107 victory over Dallas on Jan. 21. Leonard and Paul George combined for 54 points in the first meeting of the season, won by the Clippers 114-99 on Nov. 26.

The teams played once in the bubble. The Clippers won that affair 126-111 on Aug. 6. Leonard (29) and George (24) led the way with 53 points this time. Clippers big man Ivica Zubac went a perfect 10-for-10 from the field with 21 points and 15 boards in less than 30 minutes of playing time.

Clippers vs. Mavericks Offer Classic Matchup

Kawhi Leonard looks for his third NBA title with a third team starting Monday inside the NBA Bubble.

This series offers a textbook clash between an historically good offense and a gritty, veteran-laden defensively-focused squad. The 29-year-old Leonard offers a bit of both for the Clippers. He seeks his third NBA title for his third team. If he could pull off an NBA Finals MVP triple for three different teams, that would be a first.

The Mavericks boast the NBA’s most efficient offense ever with a 115.9 rating over the season. They also allowed the most points per game – 126.8 – among all teams in the Bubble.

Sophomore superstar Luke Doncic makes his postseason debut. The 7-foot-3 Kristaps Porzingis, Doncic and company hope to bury the Clippers with points from all areas of the floor. The Clippers will be spread and challenged to defend Doncic the further he is from the basket. Porzingis should draw enough heat to allow Doncic plenty of room. Porzingis has popped in the Bubble, averaging 30.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 61.7% shooting in six seeding games.

Both teams iced their seeds early on at Disney World. The No. 2 Clippers (49-23) finished 3.5 games behind the Lakers in the West. The Mavericks (43-32) were solidly safe a No. 7. Those looking ahead at NBA futures betting will find that the Clippers are a heavy -530 to take this series, while the Mavericks are getting a +380 moneyline at DraftKings. The Clippers are +170 to win the West at William Hill, while the Mavericks are +2000.
