Week 2 was one of the most challenging daily fantasy weeks in recent memory as Christian McCaffrey, Saquon Barkley and Raheem Mostert left early with injuries. It was also an extremely high-scoring week as 16 teams scored 30 or more points. Week 3 projects to be a tough DFS week given all of the injuries, but there are several games that are expected to be high-scoring contests. To help you find success in Week 3, here are our best plays, with prices from DraftKings, for this weekend:

Top DFS Team for Week 3

Pos. Player Matchup DraftKings
Price
QB Mitchell Trubisky Bears at Falcons $5,700
RB Jonathan Taylor Jets at Colts $7,000
RB Chris Carson Cowboys at Seahawks $6,600
WR Tyler Lockett Cowboys at Seahawks $6,400
WR Allen Robinson Bears at Falcons $6,200
WR CeeDee Lamb Cowboys at Seahawks $5,400
TE Jordan Reed 49ers at Giants $4,000
FLEX Diontae Johnson Texans at Steelers $5,400
D/ST New England Patriots Raiders at Patriots $3,200

Note: Prices from DraftKings are based on a $50,000 salary cap for the week

Best Week 3 DFS QB

Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky ($5,700 on DraftKings)

Matchup: Chicago Bears at Atlanta Falcons

There are a lot of opinions as to what type of quarterback Mitchell Trubisky is in the NFL. However, there is no debate that he is a highly useful DFS quarterback. Trubisky has thrown five touchdowns this season and has scored a combined 39.48 DFS points despite two interceptions.

The Bears will take on the Falcons, who have allowed nearly 375 passing yards per game in the first two weeks of the season. They also can't contain mobile quarterbacks, which should give Trubisky a high floor this week as he should exceed 30 yards on the ground. With Atlanta giving up 40 points to the Cowboys and 38 to the Seahawks, expect the Bears to have a great performance on offense in Week 3 as they should have a ton of success moving the ball through the air. Pair Trubisky with his top receiver, Allen Robinson, who is priced as a solid WR2 at $6,200. Trubisky should finish as a top-five DFS QB in Week 3 against this soft Falcons defense.

Best Week 3 DFS RB

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor ($7,000)

Matchup: New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts

Finding competent running back plays in Week 3 will be incredibly difficult given all of the injuries. However, one rising star is Colts RB Jonathan Taylor. In his first start, Taylor totaled 110 yards and a score on 28 touches last week. Indianapolis would love to see Taylor be more efficient with those touches, but the fact they are willing to give him so many touches this early in his career is encouraging.

Taylor is primed for a huge Week 3 as he will take on the New York Jets in Indianapolis. In Week 2, the Jets allowed the 49ers to rush for 182 yards and two touchdowns — and San Francisco lost its top two running backs. Taylor might not total that many yards, but he appears to be a lock to see 20 touches and is a good bet to reach the end zone. At $7,000, Taylor might be the best RB1 value on the board this week.

Best Week 3 DFS WR

Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett ($6,400)

Matchup: Dallas Cowboys at Seattle Seahawks

If you watched the Cowboys try to stop Julio Jones in Week 2, you'd see that they did an admirable job. The team devoted a ton of resources to stop the Falcons' top weapon. But they struggled with the quick and shifty Calvin Ridley. He caught seven passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns and even Russell Gage scored 16.6 DFS points.

In Week 3, the Cowboys will face the Seahawks and Dallas has struggled to slow Tyler Lockett. Russell Wilson continues to have a strong connection with Lockett as the two have combined for 15 receptions for 159 yards and a touchdown this season. Look for Lockett to have another strong day on Sunday against one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. A stack of Wilson, Lockett and D.K. Metcalf isn't a bad plan for Week 3, either.

Best Week 3 DFS TE

49ers TE Jordan Reed ($4,000)

Matchup: San Francisco 49ers at New York Giants

In DFS, there are a few times when a player is going to be highly owned by the public, but he still too good of a value to pass up. This is called a "free square" in DFS circles and there is an obvious play this week at tight end. With George Kittle likely out for Week 3, Jordan Reed becomes the must-play tight end after a monster performance against the Jets. Reed saw eight targets and turned them into 50 yards and two touchdowns. With an even better matchup this week, Reed is priced at $4,000, which makes him a must-play.

Best Week 3 DFS FLEX

Steelers WR Diontae Johnson ($5,400)

Matchup: Houston Texans at Pittsburgh Steelers

Last week, Diontae Johnson was our must-play FLEX wide receiver and he came through. Johnson caught eight passes for 92 yards and a score. More importantly, he saw a team-high 13 targets and is starting to become a favorite target for Ben Roethlisberger. Johnson has struggled some with fumbles and drops, but the fact that the Steelers keep going back to him is an excellent sign long-term.

His price has risen by almost $1,000 in a week, but Johnson is still a screaming value considering his upside. Johnson gets a nice matchup in Week 3 because Houston struggles with outside receivers. Look for Johnson to hit double-digit targets for the third straight week and to potentially reach 100 total yards and a score against the Texans. Don't be surprised if he finishes as a WR1 in DFS this week, given his target volume and the defense he faces.
