The PGA Tour’s stretch of beloved tournament stops that were called off in 2020 continues this week with a return to Quail Hollow Club for the 2021 Wells Fargo Championship.
Golf betting fans have a juicy board this week with one of the best non-major fields of the year gathering in Charlotte, North Carolina, for a few loops around this classic southern course. It has produced first-time winners who would go on to stardom, such as Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler and, most recently, Max Homa, the defending champ who picked up another win at the Genesis Invitational in February.
Justin Thomas is the +900 betting favorite in the latest Wells Fargo Championship odds, having picked up his first major victory at the 2017 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. Jon Rahm is next at +1000, Bryson DeChambeau is +1500 and Xander Schauffele is +1800.
McIlroy rounds out the top five at +1900 as he searches for his first win since the WGC-HSBC Champions in November of 2019.

Wells Fargo Championship Expert Picks & Predictions
Keith Mitchell Top-10 Finish (+1800, PointsBet)
Mitchell has been showing signs of life lately, with a T-17 two weeks ago at the Valero Texas Open. He was solo 69th last week at the Valspar, but the ballstriking was good enough that he made the cut despite finishing third-to-last in Strokes Gained Putting. His length off the tee is a great asset here, and we saw it with a T-8 finish in 2019 at Quail Hollow. He was also T-34 his first time here in 2018, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him get into contention if the putter cooperates. We’re on Mitchell for a top-10 finish +1800.

Wells Fargo Championship Betting Tips
Quail Hollow is a brute, with demanding tee shots and deep bunkers somewhat reminiscent of Augusta National from an aesthetics standpoint. Medium-hitters can still get it around if they stay in the fairways, but distance is a big plus this week.
This is a completely different test than the one we watched last week at the Valspar. You won’t see many irons off the tee, and it takes a lot of pop to successfully navigate the grounds. There’s plenty of course history available for most in the field, including the 2017 PGA Championship. Study up and look for guys with a reasonable amount of distance who don’t get too leaky off the tee.
It feels redundant to say iron play is important. That’s the case every week. Some of these greens are significantly contoured and we’re focused on the guys who will be hitting short irons and wedges into them more often than not.
