The two most successful football teams in history meet at Croke Park on Sunday to contest the 136th All-Ireland Football Final. Kerry have been crowned champions a record 38 times, but Dublin can close the gap to seven if they can win.

Between them, the two counties have won 68 titles (50.4%) - while the other 30 counties have won the other 67 championships. The rivalry between these two counties is as fierce as it gets, but when there's a chance to lift the Sam Maguire trophy, those hostilities go up another notch.

This will be the 15th time the two giants meet in the All-Ireland final, with Kerry leading the head-to-head series 8-6. This year's final evokes memories of the classic battles between the two sides in the 1970s and 1980s when Pat Spillane, Mikey Sheehy and Páidí Ó Sé were in their pomp for Kerry, while Brian Mullins, Joe McNally and Barney Rock starred for the Dubs.

Kerry are back to defend the title they won 12 months ago when they beat Galway 0-20 to 0-16 thanks to eight points from full forward David Clifford. The leading Ireland betting sites have Kerry as favourites after last year's success, but Dublin will have something to say about that.

Sunday's All-Ireland Football final promises to be a modern-day classic between two counties that have served up their fair share of memorable moments in finals. Kerry are going for two-in-a-row while Dublin are looking to win their first final since their historic run of six successive titles came to an end in 2020.

Kerry cruised to this season's Munster title beating Tipperary and Clare by a combined score of 5-39 to 0-20. The 2022 champions began the group stage with a five-point loss to Mayo in Killarney before beating Cork and Louth. Tyrone were no match for Kerry in the quarter-finals as the Kingdom won by 11 points, before Derry pushed Kerry all the way in their semi-final, which was decided by just two points.

Dublin were just as emphatic in the Leinster championship, beating Laois, Kildare and Louth by an aggregate score of 9-65 to 2-36. The Dubs went unbeaten in the group stage after opening with a draw against Roscommon. Mayo and Monaghan were brushed aside in the quarter and semi-finals to set up this weekend's mouthwatering final.
