Global Match-Fixing Fell Slightly In 2025: Report

Global Match-Fixing activity showed a slight decline in 2025, according to a new report from sports integrity firm Sportradar.

In its annual Integrity in Action 2025: Global Analysis & Trends report, Sportradar said it monitored more than 1 million sporting events across 70 sports worldwide last year and identified 1,116 suspicious matches. That figure represents a 1% decrease from 2024.

The company reported that more than 99.5% of monitored sporting events showed no signs of suspicious betting activity, reflecting what it described as continued stabilization in match-fixing trends.

Europe again accounted for the highest number of suspicious match-fixing 2025 but recorded 66 fewer cases than the previous year. South America also saw a decline, with 64 fewer suspicious matches detected year over year. Asia, Africa, and North and Central America each experienced modest increases.

Soccer remained the sport most affected by Global Match-Fixing concerns, with 618 suspicious matches identified. Basketball followed with 233 cases. Tennis (78), table tennis (65), and cricket (59) also recorded notable increases, indicating that suspicious activity continues to be spread across multiple sports.

AI Monitoring Helps Identify Suspicious Activity

Sportradar said advances to its artificial intelligence-based monitoring system played a significant role in identifying suspicious activity. The company reported a 56% increase in suspicious matches flagged through AI analysis in 2025, driven by expanded use of machine learning to analyze betting patterns in real time.

Global Match-Fixing enforcement activity also continued during the year. Sportradar said it supported 125 sporting sanctions across seven sports and six continents in 2025, bringing the total number of sanctions it has assisted with to more than 1,000. Integrity education programs reached more than 34,000 participants, a 25% increase from 2024.

Sportradar also provided integrity monitoring for several major international events in 2025, including the expanded FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Women’s European Championship. The company said it is preparing to provide similar support for major global events scheduled for 2026, including the FIFA World Cup, the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, and the Winter Olympic Games in Italy.
