Paul Pogba and Matthijs de Ligt’s hopes of securing transfers this summer have received a boost after agent Mino Raiola launched an appeal against his ban from working in football.

Raiola was handed a three-month ban by FIFA in May after sanctions were initially brought against him in Italy.

But a successful appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) means Raiola can continue working in football until the appeal is processed.

Raiola will discover at the start of July whether or not the ban will be reinstated. And he therefore faces a race against time to secure some of his top clients transfers between Europe’s elite clubs.

There are three players under Raiola’s control whose chances of securing a transfer have been aided by the developments.

Paul Pogba Transfer Odds

Manchester United star Paul Pogba could end up being sold this summer after three uninspiring seasons back at Old Trafford. The midfielder cost United £89million back in 2016 when joining from Juventus, under the nose of suitors Real Madrid.

Pogba has been linked with a move to Madrid this summer, with United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tipped to sweep away underperforming players from his squad. And Raiola’s recent appeal means the agent can now work on a deal for Pogba.

Betway have seen odds on Pogba moving to Real Madrid tumble from 10/11 (-110) to just 4/9 (-225) after the news of Raiola’s appeal. A switch back to Juventus is also priced at 5/2 (+250), although Juve would have to source serious money to match Real Madrid’s financial muscle.

Yet one factor that would work in Juve’s favour is that Raiola has worked closely with the Italian giants before, while Real president Florentino Perez is not a fan of the agent. Personal politics, therefore, could get in the way of Pogba’s final destination.

Matthijs de Ligt’s Next Club?

Ajax sensation Matthijs de Ligt is the hottest property on the market right now — and he is ready to be sold.

De Ligt was convinced to stay at Ajax last summer and play out one more season with the Dutch side. And he was rewarded with a league winner’s medal and a run with the Lancieri to the Champions League semi-finals.

De Ligt has European powerhouses scrambling for his signature right now. And Raiola’s appeal against his ban has seen odds on De Ligt moving to PSG fall from 6/1 (+600) on June 11 to just 8/13 (-162) this week.

PSG are desperate for added talent after failing to win the Champions League yet again last season. Barcelona are also suitors of defender De Ligt and Paddy Power have seen their odds to sign him come in to 15/8 (+188), second favourites behind PSG.

Yet it could actually be United — who have a strong relationship with Raiola — who end up landing De Ligt.

United are known to be seeking a new centre-back for the 2019/20 season and De Ligt has proven his ability at European and international level.

United are as far out as 12/1 with some bookmakers to secure a deal — but those odds may well come in later this summer.

Kostas Manolas Transfer Latest

One of the centre-backs Manchester United supposedly looked at but decided to move for last summer, Greece international Kostas Manolas is not short of suitors.

The Roma defender supposedly has Arsenal and Manchester City on his tail, while Juventus are also interested.

This is in part because Manolas has a reported £31m release clause, which is a steal for a proven international defender in this market.

Yet Manolas’ odds on a transfer appear to have been unaffected by the news of Raiola’s appeal. The defender is as high as 20/1 (+2000) to join Arsenal and that price has in fact lengthened since mid-May.

Juventus are the 9/4 (+225) favourites ahead of Atletico Madrid to secure the Greek’s signature but there is no real movement in the transfer betting odds at all.

In fact, with Raiola possibly pressed for time to get his deals done before CAS meets again, Manolas may drop away from the agent’s radar as he focuses on Pogba and De Ligt instead.
