IC360, PGA of America Boost Integrity Partnership Ahead Of PGA Championship

The PGA of America and IC360 boosted their betting integrity partnership in a deal announced Monday. It takes effect as the year’s second golf major championship begins Thursday at Aronimink Golf Club outside Philadelphia.

IC360 operates as a data clearing house between stakeholders whose players, employees, team officials, and others are prohibited from wagering and betting operators.

The PGA of America will now utilize IC360’s full suite of technology solutions, including the industry-leading ProhiBet and ProhiTrade systems. This move brings sports-based trades on prediction markets into the PGA of America’s compliance scope.

The PGA of America will specifically deploy ProhiBet’s encrypted data-transfer technology to prevent prohibited individuals—including players, caddies, and officials—from engaging in wagering on golf events, the two entities said in a release.

Additionally, the integration of ProhiTrade will allow the PGA of America to monitor the burgeoning prediction market space. ProhiTrade is designed to identify and prevent the use of non-public information for trading on "event contracts," ensuring that any market activity related to PGA of America championships is conducted transparently.

Prediction Markets Face Integrity Backlash

Prediction markets have faced increased public and political scrutiny of late. Multiple trades concerning the U.S. attack on Iran and the incursion into Venezuela triggered outrage, calls for federal legislation, and criminal proceedings.
