The latest IPL auction has been and gone, with records tumbling all around. The most expensive player record was meted out not once, but twice, first with Australia captain Pat Cummins and then followed by his team-mate Mitchell Starc. The 10 franchises had the opportunity to bid for and purchase some of the best players in the world to boost their chances of winning IPL 2024. The best cricket betting sites in India and around the world have odds on who will win the next edition of the IPL now that they have improved their squads.

Which Players Will Be Bought in IPL Auction?

Chennai Super Kings

The second most successful franchise in IPL history, Chennai Super Kings are likely to be well backed at Indian betting sites to go far once again after losing in the 2023 final to the Gujarat Titans.

England Test captain Ben Stokes was a huge buy for the Super Kings at last year’s auction, but he has opted out of this year’s tournament, while Ambati Rayudu has now retired from cricket.

They have done more than most teams to fill the holes in their squad with Daryl Mitchell and Rachin ravindra brought in for the same price as Stokes. Rising star Sameer Rizvi could be one to watch, and their odds will likely shorten with most online cricket betting sites in the months leading up to IPL 2024.

Bet on Chennai Super Kings to win IPL 2024 at 5/1 with Betfred.

Delhi Capitals

One of the biggest disappointments of the 2023 IPL season were Delhi Capitals, who could not get enough runs outside of interim captain David Warner.

They will be hopeful that the returning Rishabh Pant can form the spine of the team’s batting alongside Warner and Mitchell Marsh. Their additions of Harry Brook, the bargain Tristan Stubbs and Jhye Richardson should give them hope.

Bet on Delhi Capitals to win IPL 2024 at 10/1 with Betway.

Gujarat Titans

The reigning champions had more work to do than might have been imagined as Hardik Pandya lifted the trophy in May this year, after Pandya was traded to his original franchise, the Mumbai Indians, in a straight cash swap. They went about their business by targeting finishers with the bat and impact fast bowlers. Umesh Yadav and Spencer Johnson will need to be incisive with the ball after being bought for big money.

Visitors of Ireland betting sites will once again have more interest in the IPL with Josh Little being retained by Gujarat.

Bet on Gujarat Titans to win IPL 2024 at 5/1 with William Hill.

Kolkata Knight Riders

The team with the most slots to fill in the auction – 12 in total – the Knight Riders had plenty of holes to fill, but with Andre Russell and Sunil Narine once again retained, their room for an overseas player wasn’t large. Their need for an overseas quick bowler was obvious, and they went out to grab their first choice in Mitchell Starc.

Much of the rest of their work was on relative bargain players. Starc was very expensive, but he could boost their chances of winning the IPL at most cricket betting apps in India.

Bet on Kolkata Knight Riders to win IPL 2024 at 12/1 with BetVictor.

Lucknow Super Giants

For the second season running, the Lucknow Super Giants made the playoffs but fell short when it really mattered. They have kept much of their core intact aside from Avesh Khan, who was traded to the Royals.

They had the smallest purse and only added six players to the team, with none breaking the bank like some other teams. They have looked at adding to the squad depth as opposed to stars and will be well fancied at most UK betting sites after the auction.

Bet on Lucknow Super Giants to win IPL 2024 at 9/1 with bet365.

Mumbai Indians

The most successful team in IPL history, the Mumbai Indians, made a late surge to make it into the playoffs and have bolstered their squad by trading for former talisman Hardik Pandya, who has since been named as captain.

Jofra Archer wasn’t been retained, so they were always in the market for an overseas fast bowler. They ended up with two in the form of Gerald Coetzee and Dilshan Madushanka.

Bet on Mumbai Indians to win IPL 2024 at 11/2 with BetGoodwin.

Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings are the team that has perhaps underachieved the most over the years, and they once again failed to make the playoffs in. Somewhat surprisingly, Sam Curran, Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone have all been retained so expect them to go after bowling. They added to their English core with Chris Woakes and also added death specialist Harshal Patel before finishing with another power hitter in Rilee Rossouw.

Their recruitment decisions will have to be spot on to improve their chances with most betting apps.

Bet on Punjab Kings to win IPL 2024 at 12/1 with 10bet.

Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals weren’t consistent enough to make the playoffs this year after making the final in IPL 2022. They looked for a new overseas batter to takeover from Shimron Hetmyer and found it in his T20 international captain Rovman Powell.

They didn't have a great deal of money to spend much further but also added Shubham Dubey, and the signings of Nandre Burger and Tom Kohler-Cadmore could be absolute bargains.

Bet on Rajasthan Royals to win IPL 2024 at 8/1 with 888sport.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

RCB are the perennial nearly men in IPL and last year, despite having the leading run scorer in the regular season in Faf Du Plessis, they failed to make the playoffs. It was, once again, the bowling that let the team down.

As expected, they went hard on the bowling and spent big to bring in West Indian quick Alzarri Joseph. He was supplemented with Tom Curran's bag of tricks and Yash Dayal.

Bet on Royal Challengers Bangalore to win IPL 2024 at 8/1 with Mr Play.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

After winning the IPL in 2016, the Sunrisers then went to the playoffs four seasons in a row, but have now missed out for the last three seasons and once again need to retool the squad.

High-priced Harry Brook was released, alongside Adil Rashid and Akeal Hosein. They went hard early on the overseas players, securing recent World Cup semi-final and final player of the match Travis Head, alongside his skipper in that tournament Cummins and Wanindu Hasaranga. Bowling will be the key for them this year.

Bet on Sunrisers Hyderabad to win IPL 2024 with BzeeBet at 14/1.
