While the 2025-26 NFL season still has a few weeks left, attention’s already turned to next April’s NFL Draft for the teams that are eliminated from postseason contention at betting apps.
One such team is the New York Jets, who will miss the playoffs for the 15th straight season in 2026 after starting 3-10, which got the team at Bookies.com thinking about who the club could target in the first round of the draft come late April.
Currently, New York’s projected to pick seventh overall and gets another crack at the first round when the pick they acquired from the Indianapolis Colts comes up, potentially in the 18th slot of the first round.

For now, we’re going with the projections from Tankathon.com that show New York holding the seventh overall pick in the NFL Draft, with a pair of NCAA quarterbacks atop our draft odds board.
That pair is led by Alabama’s Ty Simpson, who checks in at +400, followed by Oregon’s Dante Moore at +425, with the former throwing for 3,268 yards and 26 touchdowns (to five interceptions) this season, while the latter has 2,733 yards and 24 touchdowns (to six picks) in Eugene this year.
Trailing those two college quarterbacks on our Jets odds board are college wideouts Jordyn Tyson of Arizona State and Ohio State’s Carnell Tate, with both listed at +600 after productive college careers in Tempe and Columbus.
Tyson’s had the more productive NCAA career of the two, with 2,282 yards on 158 catches with 22 touchdowns across four years with Colorado and ASU, while Tate’s three-year run at Ohio State’s seen him haul in 118 catches for 1,835 yards and 14 touchdowns across 38 games played with the Buckeyes.

Outside of those four, former California and current Indiana star quarterback Fernando Mendoza (+1100) and edge rushers Rueben Bain Jr. of Miami and Cashius Howell of Texas A&M (+1500 each) are the other potential picks for the Jets at No. 7 come April.
Mendoza’s lone season with IU has netted historic returns, with the Hoosiers snapping a 30-game losing streak to top-ranked Ohio State in the Big Ten title game and throwing for 2,980 yards and 33 touchdowns (to six interceptions) across 13 games played this year.
Bain and Howell have raised unholy hell on opposing QBs all year long, with the Miami junior making 37 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks in 12 games played this year, while Howell has 29 tackles, 14.0 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks for the Aggies in his second season in College Station after transferring from Bowling Green in 2024.

When it comes to the pick that New York acquired from Indianapolis, we’re going with a pair of college wideouts as the leading contenders to wind up on the Jets roster.
That duo is a pair of former Pac-12 (now Big Ten) wide receivers, in Makai Lemon of USC (+600) and Washington’s Denzel Boston (+650), while two NCAA cornerbacks (Jermod McCoy of Tennessee and Clemson’s Avieon Terrell) are listed at +900 apiece.

Longshots to join the Jets at No. 18 include LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane and Texas A&M wideout KC Concepcion at +1000 apiece, while Georgia defensive tackle Christen Miller rounds out the list at +1250.
Delane’s been a one-man wrecking crew in the secondary for LSU this year, with 45 tackles and two interceptions during his first season in Baton Rouge after transferring from Virginia Tech, while Concepcion has 57 catches for 886 yards and nine touchdowns in his first year at A&M after playing two seasons at NC State.
Finally, Miller has 20 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks in 13 games played for the Bulldogs in his redshirt junior campaign in Athens, serving as a one-man wrecking crew on the line and pacing Kirby Smart’s defensive unit this fall.
Any of them could join the Jets when the club picks in the middle of the first round next spring, though we’re going with the septet of NCAA stars as our top picks to go to New York when the NFL Draft kicks off in late April.
