Kalshi Super Bowl 61 Trading Volume Surpasses $10 Million Threshold

Super Bowl 61 doesn't kick off until Valentine's Day 2027 - 356 days from now - but there's plenty of trading action underway in U.S. prediction markets. The Kalshi Super Bowl 61 trading volume surpassed the $10 million mark as of Monday afternoon. Kalshi has traded $10,023,854 in its "2027 Pro Football Champion" market. Simply stated, it's picking the winner of game.
In all, the site handled more than $900 million on Super Bowl 60 game and non-game related trades. That included more than $580 million on the outcome of the game itself.
This market opened on February 8, the same day as Super Bowl 60. That game was won in a rout 29-13 by Seattle over New England. The Seahawks remain the favorite to repeat in Super Bowl 61 at 12 cents to win $1. The Bills remain the favorite in the AFC to reach/win the game at 8 cents to win $1.
Super Bowl 61 takes place at SoFi Stadium on Sunday, February 14, 2027. One can only image the romantic wreckage it will trigger.
Sportsbooks, Prediction Markets Combine For $3 Billion In SB60
In all, prediction markets handled an estimated $1.3 billion in trading volume on Super Bowl 60 in game and non-game related markets.
Conversely, the American Gaming Association estimates that $1.71 billion was wagered legally in the U.S. on The Big Game. Betting numbers from Nevada showed the Silver State logged its lowest Super Bowl handle in a decade, at just $133 million. Meanwhile, Kalshi alone traded more than $135 million on "Bad Bunny's First Song."
Trading volume is not exactly analogous to sports betting handle. For one, traders can move in and out of the same position with the same money at various prices. And prediction markets use market makers to establish many markets, and may use third-party operators to facilitate trades.
Still, the numbers traded on the Super Bowl this year, and where the numbers appear to be headed next year, make it clear that prediction markets have prime real estate in the Super Bowl betting/trading echosystem.
