California Man Calls In Bomb Threat To Casino After Losing $20,000, Police Say

Man Calls In Bomb Threat To Casino

A California man crapped out after allegedly losing $20,000 and threatening to “bomb” a Nevada casino, police said Tuesday.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested Seth Maybee of South Lake Tahoe, California, early Tuesday after he allegedly called in the threat to Harrah’s Casino in Stateline, Nevada.

The casino received the call around 9:50 p.m. Monday night, and alerted authorities. The caller said: “Yeah, I just lost over $20,000 at your stupid casino, and I am going to destroy it now. I am going to bomb it. This is a bomb threat,” the DCSO said.

Authorities determined the call came from Maybee after an investigation. The South Lake Tahoe Police Department arrested Maybee at his apartment Wednesday at 1:45 a.m. local time.

Police booked Maybee into the El Dorado County (Calif.) Jail at 2:45 a.m. He remained there as of Tuesday afternoon. He faces felony charges in Nevada that include making terrorist threats and making a bomb threat. Authorities will extradite him to Douglas County to face the charges.

“I want to thank Harrah’s Casino for their quick reporting of this incident and the South Lake Tahoe Police Department for their assistance in the arrest of Maybee,” said Douglas County Sheriff Dan Coverley. “Due to the history of the Harvey’s bombing in the early 1980s, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Stateline casinos take these threats very seriously. Fortunately, we were able to make an arrest before anything happened”
