Manchester United look set to do a deal with Inter Milan for striker Romelu Lukaku and odds on the Belgian leaving Old Trafford have collapsed.

Manchester United appear open to offloading Lukaku in order to free up space in their forward line.

The Premier League side are said to have been chasing a sale worth around £70m in order to recoup much of the £75m they paid Everton for the Belgium international two summers ago.

But with very few suitors ready to part with that sort of cash, Inter have come to the negotiating table with a surprise offer.

Inter The Heavy Favourites

The Italian giants want to pay just £9m up front for a two-year loan deal, after which they would pay £53.8m, the Guardian claim.

The reason for this is so Inter can offset the cost of the transfer over a number of years, thus easing their Financial Fair Play restraints. It is a tactic a growing number of clubs — especially in Italy — are utilising.

And despite the lack of up-front funds on offer, United seem ready to strike an agreement.

Bookmakers Paddy Power have seen Lukaku’s odds on joining Inter fall to a record low 1/9 (-900).

Considering they were 3/1 (+300) to sign the 26-year-old just six weeks ago, this represents a huge shift in the odds.

Man Utd Transfer Targets

It is understood United want to sell Lukaku in order to then sign a fresh attacking face and attention is supposedly turning to Sevilla sensation Wissam Ben Yedder.

Spanish media outlet ABC report that United are keen on 28-year-old Ben Yedder, who scored 18 goals in La Liga last season.

Ben Yedder joined Sevilla from Toulouse back in 2016 and his contract expires in the summer of 2021, meaning Sevilla will not be held hostage over a transfer fee.

Another option United are said to have tracked is Mauro Icardi. But the Inter striker appears set to remain in the San Siro and could well strike up a deadly partnership with Lukaku, should the Belgian head to Italy.
