NBA Schedule 2025-26: Teams To Travel More Than 1.2 Million Miles

The 30 NBA teams will travel more than 1.2 million miles during the 2025-26 season, crossing through an estimated 1000-plus time zones.

The full NBA schedule will be announced on Thursday (Aug. 14). Once it is announced, Bookies.com will analyze the miles traveled by each team this season.

Last season, the 30 NBA teams averaged 42,098 miles traveled. The Minnesota Timbervolves traversed 49,937 miles, most in the NBA. And the Toronto Raptors covered the fewest miles at 34,981.

The NBA’s 80th regular season begins on October 21 and runs through April 12, 2026. On Opening Night, the Houston Rockets visit the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder. Then the Golden State Warriors play at the Los Angeles Lakers. Both games will air in NBC.

The regular-season schedule includes defined dates and opponents for 80 of each team’s 82 games, along with two games designated as TBD dates and opponents. 

The Detroit Pistons and Dallas Mavericks meet on Nov. 1 at Arena CDMX in Mexico City.

That trip adds 3,675 miles and 4 time zones to the Pistons' travel log this season. The Mavs go 1,859 miles and visit 2 time zones.

The Orlando Magic and Memphis Grizzlies play a two-game series in Berlin and London on January 15 and 18.

The Magic travel 9753.2 miles and cross 12 time zones during that trip. The Grizzlies cover 9578.2 miles and go through 14 time zones total.

NBA Calendar Highlights & Postseason Setup

The NBA routinely schedules 5 games for Christmas Day. The Association finds itself in direct competition with the NBA for eyeballs on the holiday. Play begins at noon Eastern and runs non-stop until the final game on the West Coast that begins at 10:30 p.m.

On Martin Luther King Day, all 30 NBA teams usually play, usually take the court, providing fans and users of betting apps with a packed schedule to follow.

The NBA is expected to bring back its Rivalry Week this season. Last season, it showcased 10 nationally televised games during the final full week of January.

The NBA offers a scheduling quirk to maintain competitive balance heading into the playoffs. All 30 teams play on the third-to-last day of the regular season (Friday, April 17) and the final day of the regular season (Sunday, April 19.) On that day. all the Eastern Conference Games begin at 1 p.m., while the interconference game and the Western Conference Games tip at 3:30 p.m.
