The Arkansas Razorbacks will be in the hunt for a new head coach after Sam Pittman was fired in September. Bobby Petrino is the current interim head coach for the college football team, but a widespread search is expected to be conducted following the current CFB season. This is a highly coveted job that will surely attract many eligible suitors.
With Arkansas looking for a new leader for their squad, Bookies.com has put together hypothetical betting odds for who the next Razorbacks head coach will be.

Who Replaces Sam Pittman at Arkansas?
Alex Golesh (USF head coach): +350
Golesh has done a solid job at South Florida, leading the Bulls to a 21-15 (.583) record with postseason wins in the Boca Raton and Hawaii bowls.
While much uncertainty remains about how much Arkansas would have to pay USF to buy out Golesh’s contract, we do know that he’s currently earning $2.5 million a year to coach in South Florida, half of what the Razorbacks were paying Pittman to coach the team.
Given the Razorbacks’ deep pockets and the program’s need for a “win-now” coach in Fayetteville, we’re banking on Arkansas to cover whatever the costs are to land Golesh, which is why we’re giving him the top odds of any potential candidate of replacing Pittman as the next leader of the Razorbacks.
Ryan Silverfield (Memphis head coach): +425
In what might best be described of an age-old case of “if you can’t beat ‘em, hire ‘em,” the Razorbacks might decide to pick the man who pulled off a 32-31 win over the Razorbacks earlier this year.
That’s because Memphis Tigers head coach Ryan Silverfield may be the next man up in Fayetteville, with the 45-year-old Florida native currently earning $2.45 million a year in the Bluff City, making him another economical option for the Razorbacks this go-round.
This year, Silverfield’s led Memphis to an 8-3 start to the season, though his star might be a bit tarnished of late given the Tigers’ current two-game skid in American play with losses to Tulane (38-32) and East Carolina (31-27).
Jon Sumrall (Tulane head coach): +800
One of the hottest names this cycle has been Jon Sumrall of Tulane, who previously served as the head coach at Troy prior to coming home to the Big Easy in 2024.
To date, Sumrall and the Green Wave have gone 8-2, with losses to No. 13 Ole Miss and UTSA, with Tulane sitting a half-game behind Navy in the American league table with two contests left.
While Sumrall appears set to go to one of the other SEC teams that has a job opening, we’re not ruling out the right dominoes falling to get him to Arkansas, which is why we’re giving the second-year Tulane head coach +800 odds of winding up in Fayetteville.
Eric Morris (North Texas head coach): +900
The fourth and final American head coach at the top of our Arkansas odds board has gone 20-15 (.571) in Denton, leading North Texas to 5-7 and 6-7 seasons, while upping the ante this year, with a 9-1 mark that’s seen the Mean Green beat all but one American foe (that being USF, who beat North Texas, 63-36).
While Arkansas’ last dip into the American Conference pool didn’t end well, with former SMU coach Chad Morris going 4-18 (.182), that’s not to say that guys like Morris can’t win in Northwest Arkansas.
For now, we’re giving the third-year coach of the Mean Green +900 odds of replacing Pittman at Arkansas, ranking fourth on our Razorbacks odds board.
Other Names To Keep An Eye On
Outside of the four American Conference head coaches that top our Arkansas job board, keep an eye on names like Pat Fitzgerald, who hasn’t had a head coaching job since getting fired by Northwestern for off-field reasons back in 2022.
Fitzgerald’s tenure in Evanston was nothing but success, wins wise, with a 110-101 (.521) mark at the Big Ten outpost with 10 bowl appearances in 17 years at the school.
For now, we’re giving him +1250 odds of getting the Arkansas job, sitting ahead of Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck (+1750) and another American Conference coach, in UTSA’s Jeff Trayor (+2500) on our Razorbacks odds board.
Throw in a few longshot candidates, such as Jerry Mack of Kennesaw State, As well as Texas State’s GJ Kinne and Dan Mullen of UNLV at +3000 apiece, as well as SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee and former NFL head coach Jon Gruden at +3500 and you have our current Arkansas odds board covered as the ‘Hogs look to find the right man for the job on the heels of a stretch to forget in Fayetteville.
