NFL Week 6 Best Bets: Another Super Bowl Preview?

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs play host to Detroit this week. (USA TODAY)

Another in-season potential Super Bowl showdown grabs the marquee in our NFL Week 6 Best Bets.

The Sunday Night game on this week’s  NFL odds schedule sends the Detroit Lions to Arrowhead Stadium to meet the Kansas City Chiefs.

Taylor Swift’s presence at Chiefs’ games this season to watch her fiancé Travis Kelce  been muted. Allegedly due to security concerns. But her “The Life of a Showgirl” dropped on October 3. She’ll be featured on NBC’s “The Tonight Show” on Monday (October 6.) An appearance by TS to cheer her betrothed as seen the Peacock’s most-viewed weekly TV program, ranks as a near certainty.

Patrick Mahomes continues to elevate a sub-par group of receivers, and an aging Kelce. He and the Chiefs won two straight ahead of their Monday night game at Jacksonville. Meanwhile, KC’s defense continues its stingy play, having given up just 2 or fewer TDs in its past 3 games.

NFL Continues European Swing In London

The NFL’s two-week run in England concludes this week as the Denver Broncos play the New York Jets at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. This once should feel like a soccer game in the sense that the winning team may only score twice.

The NFL joins football’s furious run of college and/or pro games for 54 straight nights with the Eagles-Giants game on Thursday night at MetLife. Starting Wednesday (Oct. 8), college and pro football fans and bettors have at least one game on per day/night to watch through Monday, December 1.

Week 6 features seven games at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday in our NFL Week 6 Best Bets. The national FOX game pits the LA Rams against the Ravens in Baltimore. The national CBS game at 4:25 p.m. ET sends San Francisco to Tampa Bay in a battle of division leaders. It carries possible big playoff implications.

For some unexplainable reason, The Shield gives us 2 games again this week on Monday night. Buffalo visits Atlanta in the first game (7:15 p.m., ABC), and Chicago plays at Washington in the nightcap at 8 p.m. on ABC.

Bye Week: Minnesota, Chicago — Best Bets & Odds Subject To Change

NFL Week 6 Best Bets: Game-By-Game Breakdown

Thursday, October 9

Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants, 8:15 p.m. (Prime Video)

Buzz: The Super Bowl champs welcome Giants rookie QB Jaxson Dart to the NFC East in Prime (Video) Time. But Saquon Barkley should open things up this week. Barkley romped for 176 yards and a TD in his lone start against Big Blue (his former team) last season. Philly faces its longest line of the season on the road. Dart bungled away the Giants hopes Sunday.

Pick:  Eagles -7  (-110) DraftKings via OddsJam

Sunday, October 12

Denver Broncos vs. N.Y. Jets, 9:30 a.m. (NFL Network)
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

Buzz: The NFL gives the hometown fans a taste of soccer in the form of American football as two scores likely wins this game.

Pick:  Under 43.5 Points  (-110) DraftKings via OddsJam

Arizona Cardinals at Indianapolis Colts, 1 p.m. (FOX)
Buzz
: The Cardinals hit the road for an early start but have yet to recover from their epic collapse against Tennessee.

Pick:  Colts -3.5  (-110) DraftKings via OddsJam

LA Chargers at Miami Dolphins, 1 p.m. (CBS)
Buzz
: The Chargers have a thing for early games on the East Coast, and it isn’t good. Let’s just say they’re low voltage. The Dolphins lucked into consecutive games against the Jets and Panthers before getting LA in South Florida’s wet and warm climes. But they blew a 17-0 lead in their loss to Carolina. The Bolts got zapped at home by Washington. They'll enjoy a week away from home.

Pick:  Chargers -4.5  (-110) DraftKings via OddsJam

New England Patriots at New Orleans Saints, 1 p.m. (CBS)
Buzz: Drake Maye could hit 300 passing yards for the first time in his career this week inside Caesars Superdome against the ‘Aints. Both teams scored upset wins on Sunday. But New England’s victory over the Bills in Orchard Park was the most-substantial win for the franchise since Super Bowl 53.

Pick:  Patriots -3.5  (-110) DraftKings via OddsJam

Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers, 1 p.m. (CBS)
Buzz
: Browns rookie QB Dylan Gabriel takes his 2nd NFL start against a Mike Tomlin defense. Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers makes start No. 254. Maybe we’ll see Sheduer Sanders in the 2nd half.

Pick:  Steelers -4.5  (-110) DraftKings via OddsJam

Seattle at Jacksonville, 1 p.m. (FOX)
Buzz
: The Bucs’ Pirate Ship sailed up Puget Sound and downed the Seahawks Sunday off a last-second FG. The Jags come off a tough Monday nighter against Kansas City. However, early Sunday Florida games in October can leave West Coast visitors jet-lagged and dehydrated.

Pick: Seahawks +1.5 (-110) DraftKings via OddsJam

LA Rams at Baltimore Ravens, 1 p.m. (FOX)

Buzz: The team formerly known as the Baltimore Ravens play host to the visiting Rams, just 2 weeks after the Rams saw their hearts broken in Philly. Meanwhile, all you need to know about how far the Ravens have fallen is to see that they are 7.5-point underdogs at home. Cooper Rush and what’s left of the Ravens’ offense might not find the end zone here.

Pick: Under 45.6 Points (-110) DraftKings via OddsJam

Tennessee at Las Vegas, 1 p.m. (FOX)

Buzz: The Titans got their mandatory win of 2025 thanks to Emari Demercado dropping what would have been a touchdown at the goal line. Furthermore, a zany Cardinals interception that morphed into a Titans TD. Cam Ward looked solid, however. The Raiders are inept, but should handle the rookie QB.

Pick: Raiders -5.5 (-110) DraftKings via OddsJam

Cincinnati at Green Bay, 4:25 p.m. (CBS)

Buzz: This one had marquee potential when the schedule was created in May. But this week, it’s just another regional CBS game. The Bengals, meanwhile, tried to keep up with the Lions but fell short 35-24. Green Bay comes off the bye. But this line is too much of an ask for Green Bay to cover.

Pick: Bengals +14 (-110) DraftKings via OddsJam

San Francisco 49ers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 4:25 p.m. (CBS)

Buzz: Jim and Troy take a ride on the Pirate Ship as the two 4-1 division leaders meet in what could be an NFC playoff preview. Baker Mayfield continues to ball. And the Bucs’ defense will keep Mac Jones or Brock Purdy from letting the game get out of hand.

Pick: Buccaneers -3 (-110) DraftKings via OddsJam

Detroit Lions at Kansas City Chiefs, 8:20 p.m. (NBC)

Buzz: The Lions visit to Arrowhead for the 2nd time in 3 years. In 2023, they upset the then-defending Super Bowl champs in Week 1 in Kansas City. The Lions, meanwhile, have covered the spread in 52 of their past 74 games, (52-21-1) including Week 6, since the start of the 2021 season. No reason to expect it will stop this week, even if Taylor Swift shows up at Arrowhead to cheer her betrothed.

Pick: Lions +1.5 (-110) DraftKings via OddsJam

Monday, Oct. 13

Buffalo Bills at Atlanta Falcons, 7:15 p.m. (ESPN)

Buzz: The Bills suffered an upset loss at the hands of the Patriots (+8.5 points) Sunday night. Drake Maye played the role of Josh Allen. A road game might fix what ailed the Bills in Week 6. The Falcons remain consistently inconsistent. Hard to see Buffalo dropping 2 in a row. The Falcons come off the bye.

Pick: Under 49.5 Points (-110) DraftKings via OddsJam

Monday, Oct. 13

Buffalo Bills at Atlanta Falcons, 7:15 p.m. (ESPN)

Buzz: The Commanders short-circuited the Chargers at SoFi Sunday. Washington dominated on both sides of the ball, and commanded the line of scrimmage. The Bears come off the bye.

Pick: Commanders -3.5 (-110) DraftKings via OddsJam
