Tottenham face a monumental task to reach their first ever Champions League final after Tuesday night’s 1-0 semi-final first-leg defeat to Ajax.

Yet punters are sticking with the north London club to make it to Madrid this summer.

Spurs laboured to threaten Ajax’s goal without the influential Harry Kane and Son Heung-min at their new stadium.

And Donny van de Beek’s early goal in the first leg means the return fixture next week is an all-or-nothing clash for Spurs.

But football betting fans appear to still have the backing of Mauricio Pochettino’s men as Spurs’ odds on reaching the Champions League final recovered overnight.

Tottenham were 4/1 (+400) with William Hill to win the Champions League before Tuesday night’s game. That price shot up to 10/1 (+1000) after full time as fans backed away from Pochettino’s side.

But already those odds have narrowed to 9/1 (+900) as of Wednesday morning, with punters taking advantage of the big prices on offer.

Clearly faith in Spurs has not totally disappeared despite Tuesday night’s lacklustre display against an Ajax side that looked far more mature than the average age of their young stars suggests.

Can Spurs win in Amsterdam?

Confidence remains high that Tottenham can win the second leg. Last night, when the markets for the reverse fixture opened, 10Bet had Tottenham at 6/5 (+120) to win in Holland.

That price has also come in now to 11/10 (+110) — not a massive change but enough to indicate punters are ready to back Spurs to complete a comeback here.

Ajax, of course, remain favourites to win this home match, especially after dumping Real Madrid and Juventus out of the competition already.

Yet MoPlay also have Ajax at 11/10 (+110) to claim the win, highlighting just how even punters reckon this second leg will be next Wednesday.

Barcelona Still Favourites

Tottenham’s defeat on Wednesday night also saw the odds on Barcelona and Liverpool winning the Champion League squeeze.

Barca’s price fell from 8/5 (+160) to 6/4 (+160) with Betfair, while Liverpool are now 2/1 (+200) second favourites to win the competition for a sixth time.

Barca host Liverpool in the first leg of their semi-final at the Nou Camp on Wednesday night, with the Reds drifting to 3/1 (+300) with Ladbrokes to claim a famous win in Spain.
