Resorts World New York City Casino Starts Live Table Games Today

NEW YORK - If only Nathan Detroit lived to see this. In-person Craps, roulette, and blackjack make their legal debut in The Big Apple Tuesday as Resorts World New York City Casino Starts Live Table Games.
A ceremony on Tuesday morning features the "First Throw" of the dice by rapper Nas. Resorts World New York City Casino Starts Live Table Games in Queens at its facility next to Aqueduct Racetrack. The third floor of the casino now features more than 240 table games, including blackjack, craps, baccarat and roulette. Players also have the option to press the big button on more than a thousand slot machines.
In December, the New York State Gaming Commission awarded licenses to Resorts World New York City at Aqueduct, Bally's Bronx, and Metropolitan Park in Queens — the latter backed by Hard Rock International and New York Mets owner Steve Cohen.
"New York City has never seen anything like what we're planning for April 28. Once the Gaming Commission’s final testing is complete, live table games will be open and operating right here in Queens for the first time in the history of New York City. We are ready to welcome New Yorkers to this exciting new experience," said Robert DeSalvio, President of Genting Americas East in a release touting Tuesday's fete. "This is a transformational moment for Resorts World New York City, and we cannot wait to share it with our fellow New Yorkers."

Rapper Nas To Throw Ceremonial Dice
Rap legend Nas will be on hand for the official ribbon cutting as well as that ceremonial throw of the first dice.
The event will feature remarks from notable industry leaders, including:
- KT Lim, Chairman, Genting
- Robert DeSalvio, President, Genting Americas East
- Kevin Jones, Chief Strategy & Legal Officer, Resorts World New York City
- Meghan Taylor, Senior Vice President, Government Affairs and Public Relations, Resorts World New York City
- Michelle Stoddart, Senior Vice President, Community Development, Resorts World New York City
Each licensee paid a $500 million fee up front, with the total of $1.5 billion going to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Resorts World launched first because its physical structure existed beforehand. The other two New York City live casinos remain on the drawing board.
Resorts World Puts Spotlight On New Jobs
For the first time since 2023, the downstate casino licensing issue is no longer hanging over the iGaming debate. These retail operations could help absorb any union retail casino jobs lost elsewhere in the state.
The completion of that politically sensitive process cleared the way for $15 billion in development and removed what many lawmakers viewed as a prerequisite to considering further gaming expansion. Gov. Kathy Hochul and legislative leaders said no additional gaming measures could advance until the three NYC casinos received clearance.
Resorts World says the live casino generated 1,250 new jobs, including 950 new table-game dealers. The facility employs 2,200 people. The Resorts World Dealer School trained and hired over 400 local residents at the Queens property, with another 500 graduates by May.
