Who Replaces Brian Callahan in Nashville?
The top candidate to replace Callahan in the Music City is no stranger to the Titans organization, as current Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith checks in at +475, five years after ending his stint as the team’s offensive coordinator.
In total, the former Atlanta Falcons head coach from 2021 to 2023 spent a decade with the Titans, starting as a defensive quality control coach in 2011 and working his way up to the team’s OC by the time he left.
Sadly, for Smith, his three-year stint in Atlanta didn’t end well, as he went 7-10 three years in a row before getting canned by team leadership, though he could be in for a return to form with the franchise that cultivated his coaching skills in the new year.
Outside of Smith, keep an eye on another former NFL head coach, in Mike McCarthy (formerly of the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys), as a potential candidate in Nashville, with the 62-year-old holding +550 odds of replacing Callahan in 2026.
Throw in former Arizona Cardinals and Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury (who’s currently the Washington Commanders offensive coordinator) at +600 and you have the upper end of our Titans odds board covered.

Who Else Could Get The Job?
Outside of that trio of former NFL head coaches, there’s always this year’s crop of rising assistants to keep an eye out for.
That collective includes names like Klint Kubiak of the Seattle Seahawks and another former NFL head coach, in Jim Schwartz (formerly of the Detroit Lions), who is currently the Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator, with the two co-listed at +1100.
Two more up-and-comers, in Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo and Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady, are co-listed at +1500 to be the next man up in the Volunteer State, while names like Vance Joseph and Jesse Minter (+2000 apiece) are also ones to remember in Nashville.
When it comes to the longshots, there’s always franchise icon and current Bowling Green Falcons head coach Eddie George, who is among four candidates listed at +3000 apiece (along with Texas’ Steve Sarkisian, Rams DC Chris Shula and Vikings DC Brian Flores).
George’s early tenure in Ohio hasn’t fielded a lot of success, with the Falcons going 4-8 in MAC play, three wins less than Bowling Green had in 2023 and 2024. But George did lead a nice turnaround at Tennessee State from 2021-2024, who just happened to play home games at Nissan Stadium.
Sarkisian has never been a head coach in the NFL, though he has a 93-55 (.628) mark across 12 seasons with Washington, USC and Texas, including a 34-8 mark in the last three years on the 40 Acres.
Shula’s time in L.A. has seen him oversee a massive improvement in the team’s defensive play, with the Rams going from 26th leaguewide in yards and 17th in points allowed in 2024 to 15th and 7th this season.
Flores’ time in Minneapolis has followed a similar trajectory, with the Vikings going from 16th NFL-wide in terms of yards allowed to 9th this year, while the 44-year-old also sports a 24-25 (.490) record across three seasons as a head coach with the Miami Dolphins, including 10-6 and 9-8 campaigns in his final two years with the team.
Regardless of who replaces Callahan, we know for sure that the Titans are in for an overhaul, coaching wise, with the team’s next head coach looking to turn the tide on what’s been a rough few years for pro football fans in the Music City.
