The men’s World Cup is coming back to the United States for the first time since 1994, with Mexico and Canada co-hosting. Who will make the USMNT roster?

Bookies.com, as part of our soccer betting insight, projected the final roster for the U.S. team for the upcoming 2026 World Cup. The quadrennial event is set for June 11 to July 19 in the USA, Mexico and Canada. All of the USMNT games will be in the United States.

The USNMT’s starting goalkeeper position for the World Cup seems to belong to Matt Freese, who has emerged from a crowded pack in the past couple of years.

Freese, 27, of NYCFC in Major League Soccer, played every minute of the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2025, allowing an average of one goal per game over the six-game tournament, in which the USA finished runnerup to Mexico.

We give Freese a 98% implied probability to make the roster, assuming he’s healthy. That would translate to -4900 odds at US sportsbook apps. The Columbus Crew’s Patrick Schulte (-1350) has only three international appearances to his name, but he’s likely to make the team as a backup. Matt Turner’s ill-fated time in England has seen him slide down the USMNT depth chart, but FIFA rules say each team must carry three keepers in the World Cup.

At BetMGM Sportsbook, the USA has +5000 odds to win the World Cup.

Antonee “Jedi” Robinson not only has a memorable nickname (stemming from his childhood love for the “Star Wars” franchise) but is a lock for a World Cup roster spot thanks to his form for the USA and for Fulham in England’s Premier League. The 28-year-old was born in England but was eligible to play for the USMNT because his English father became a U.S. citizen.

Alex Freeman, 21, transferred from Orlando City in MLS to Spain’s Villareal in late January and made his La Liga debut on Jan. 31. Freeman scored his first two USMNT goals during a 5-1 win over Uruguay in a friendly on Nov. 18 in Tampa. He is the son of former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Antonio Freeman.

Veterans Chris Richards and Tim Ream are also likely to make the World Cup squad. At 38, Ream would be by far the oldest player on the team if he makes the roster.

The first U.S. World Cup match is June 12 against Paraguay in Los Angeles. The Americans are +110 favorites to win the match at Caesars Sportsbook, with Paraguay at +260 odds to win and a draw at +230. The American squad has four exhibition matches in between, but coach Mauricio Pochettino said the squad he picks for two March friendlies will pretty much be the one that goes to the World Cup. “It’s true, it’s going to be difficult to bring some new players, because I think we don’t have time,” he said, according to Sports Illustrated.

The race for the USMNT’s midfield spots at the World Cup is wide open, but two spots should be considered locked in.

Weston McKennie (-4900 odds) has 62 caps for his national team and has been a steady starter for Juventus, one of the world’s most prestigious clubs. At 27, McKennie is a reliable and versatile veteran who started all four U.S. games at the 2022 World Cup.

The other near-certain midfield pick is Tyler Adams, who plays for Bournemouth in the Premier League. Adams, who turns 27 on Feb. 14, is out with a torn MCL and his status for the March friendlies is in question. But he should be back by this summer if there are no setbacks. He was the captain for the USMNT at the 2022 World Cup, when the Americans reached the Round of 16.

At FanDuel Sportsbook, Christian Pulisic has +240 odds to be the top goalscorer for the American squad at the World Cup, followed by Folarin Balogun at +300.

Pulisic is one of the most decorated players in USMNT history, having been the youngest player ever to captain the team and the youngest to start a World Cup qualifying match. Now 27, Pulisic is a lock for his second World Cup as he continues to star for AC Milan in Italy’s Serie A. He has 32 goals in 82 appearances for the national team, including the only goal in the 1-0 victory over Iran that clinched a place in the Rounf of 16 at the 2022 World Cup.

But DraftKings Sportsbook lists Balogun at +8000 odds to be the tournament’s leading goalscorer (the Golden Boot Award), the best among American players, with Pulisic, Haji Wright and Ricardo Pepi at +10000. Balogun, a New York City native who grew up in London, has eight goals in 23 U.S. appearances including two in the 2024 Copa America tournament. He has four goals and three assists this season for Monaco in France’s Ligue 1.
