GameDay Favorite Spot To Land In Week 11

With a potential ranked clash between Texas Tech and BYU awaiting us next Saturday, it seems like a no-brainer that GameDay will head to Lubbock for the second time ever come Nov. 8, potentially visiting the city for the first time since 2008, when then-sixth ranked Texas Tech upset No. 1 Texas, 39-33, on Nov. 1 of that year.

Right now, Texas Tech is ranked 13th overall while the Cougars are unbeaten and listed at No. 10 in the latest AP top 25 poll, with Kalani Sitake’s team off this weekend while the Red Raiders head to Manhattan to play unranked Kansas State at 2:30 p.m. Central time this weekend.

While a win in the Little Apple is never a guarantee, doing so would go a long way towards getting ESPN’s attention for the Red Raiders, which is why we’re giving Texas Tech the best odds of any FBS program when it comes to hosting GameDay next weekend, checking in at -400 (or 80%).

Where Else Could GameDay Land?

For now, the renaissance season in Charlottesville for the 7-1 UVA Cavaliers has our full and undivided attention, with the team’s 8 p.m. clash with unranked Wake Forest being the No. 2 landing spot for GameDay next weekend, with the ‘Wahoos’ holding +700 odds of landing GameDay in Week 11 for the first time in school history come Nov. 8.

Longshots to host GameDay in Week 11 include No. 3 Texas A&M at 19th ranked Missouri in Columbia (+3000), Nebraska vs. UCLA at the Rose Bowl (+5000) and LSU vs. Alabama in Tuscaloosa (+8000), though the Tigers’ 17-10 loss to Vanderbilt last weekend likely saps the energy from that contest, while UCLA’s Hollywood giridiron resurrection was drained by Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers in Bloomington, with the No. 2 team in the land shellacking the Bruins, 56-6.

Finally, with LSU firing head coach Brian Kelly, there’s likely to be little momentum on ESPN’s part to showcase what might be a one-sided affair in Tuscaloosa, which potentially opens the door for Texas Tech to host for the first time in 17 years come Nov. 8, with ESPN’s college football crew making the long trek to Lubbock for a bright-and-early GameDay reunion with the Red Raiders.
