There are an unusually high number of teams still in the hunt for the NFL Playoffs as Week 17 kicks off. There is also much to be decided as to which teams slide into which slots, making for some intriguing NFL Week 17 odds and NFL betting opportunities. A few matchups this week will clear some of that up.
In the NFC, the Dallas Cowboys (11-4) host the Arizona Cardinals (10-5). Both teams are chasing the Green Bay Packers (12-3) for the No. 1 overall seed; regardless, the winner could get the No. 2 seed locked up. The Packers host the desperate Vikings (7-8) on Sunday Night Football.
The Kansas City Chiefs (11-4), currently the No. 1 team in the AFC, play at the Cincinnati Bengals (9-6), a team that leads the AFC North after sweeping the Baltimore Ravens (8-7). The Ravens have their own concerns, hosting the Los Angeles Rams (11-4), who are vying for a home game in the NFC.

Sunday, Jan. 2
Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Football Team, 1 p.m. ET
Take a look at Eagles vs Washington odds, injury report, betting lines and more.
The Eagles have won six of their last eight games. They had rushed for at least 176 yards in seven straight games before being held to 130 in Week 16. They still beat the Giants, thanks to a defense that held New York to just 192 yards with two turnovers. Philly just beat Washington two weeks ago, piling up a season-high 519 yards.
WFT had won four straight before its playoff hopes were all but dashed with back-to-back losses to the Cowboys and these Eagles, with the nail in the coffin on Sunday, a 56-14 embarrassment at the hands of Dallas in the rematch. The defense spurred the late-season charge but was gashed for 500-plus yards the last two weeks. That includes a 519-yard letdown vs. Philly just two weeks ago. RB Antonio Gibson has just 25 carries for 62 yards the last two games. The team is 6-1 when he gains over 60 and 0-7 when he doesn’t.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Jets, 1 p.m. ET
Take a look at Buccaneers vs Jets odds, injury report, betting lines and more.
The Buccaneers lead the league in both scoring and yards gained. For teams that can slow Tom Brady down, they can be successful. Tampa has won their last six games when putting up 30 points, and lost the last three that it hasn’t. That’s bad news for a Jets team that’s allowed more points than any other squad. That’s why this is one of the biggest NFL Week 17 spreads out there.
The Jets are still learning how to win, but Week 16 may have offered a glimpse. They rushed for 273 yards – and passed for just 100 – in a victory over the Jaguars. That included 91 from QB Zach Wilson. They’re 2-0 on their two biggest rushing days, and 2-11 in all the others. Tampa Bay ranks No. 3 vs. the run.
New York betting sites won’t be live yet to take online wagers in this game, but Jets fans should be on the lookout for early registration offers soon, including from BetMGM New York.
Las Vegas Raiders at Indianapolis Colts, 1 p.m. ET
Take a look at Raiders vs Colts odds, injury report, betting lines and more.
The Raiders have just two wins when scoring under 20 points, but both instances came in the last two weeks. A defense that was considered a bottom-10 weakness has now held three of its last four opponents 17 points or less. Grinding the ball out with Josh Jacobs is working; Vegas is 4-1 when he gets 15-plus carries.
The Colts have won nine of 12 but will be without QB Carson Wentz (protocols) in this critical showdown. A loss by the Colts (9-6) to the Raiders (8-7) gives Vegas the head-to-head tiebreaker. Rookie QB Sam Ehlinger, who hasn’t thrown a pass this season, gets the call. Ehlinger can at least rely on NFL leading rusher Jonathan Taylor and a defense that’s allowed over 17 points just once in the last five weeks.
Top betting sites are predicting a comfortable Colts victory, including at Caesars Sportsbook, where the Caesars Sportsbook promo code gives new bettors a first-bet match of up to $1,001.

Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints, 1 p.m. ET
Take a look at Panthers vs Saints odds, injury report, betting lines and more.
Sam Darnold’s return to the Panthers didn’t spark a struggling offense. Darnold and Cam Newton combined to go 22-of-45 passing for 251 yards, no TDs and one INT (by Newton) in a 32-6 drubbing by the Bucs in Week 16. Newton and Darnold also combined for 53 of the team’s 67 rush yards. Carolina pounded New Orleans 26-7 back in Week 2, holding the Saints to 128 total yards.
The Saints have lost 6 of 8 games yet the playoffs are still within reach, though it will take a pair of wins and some help. The offense has hasn’t reached the end zone in the last two games, and Carolina’s defense ranks No. 2 in yards allowed.
Miami Dolphins at Tennessee Titans, 1 p.m. ET
Take a look at Dolphins vs Titans odds, injury report, betting lines and more.
Miami has won seven games in a row after losing seven straight, becoming the first team in NFL history to accomplish both in the same season. The Dolphins are in a playoff spot but face the Titans here and the Patriots next week. Amazingly, only one opponent has passed for over 210 yards during the seven-game victory stretch. Ryan Tannehill has been held to under 200 in six of the last seven Titans games.
Tennessee ranks No. 2 in the NFL in rushing defense and just shut down a Niners team that has run over a lot of quality defenses over the last two months. The last three weeks it’s held opponents to a combined to 42 ypg on the ground. The offense is still trying to figure out how to do its part, scoring 20 points or less in five straight games after going over that total every game since Week 1.
Jacksonville Jaguars at New England Patriots, 1 p.m. ET
Take a look at Jaguars vs Patriots odds, injury report, betting lines and more.
The Jaguars scored over 17 points for the first time in nine games last time out, but still lost. To the Jets. That left little doubt as to which team is the very worst in the NFL, following defeats to New York and to Houston since jettisoning coach Urban Meyer. To make matters worse, lead RB James Robinson injured his Achilles. The No. 1 overall pick is looking highly attainable, and the best sportsbooks in the US have this as the biggest opening line in NFL Week 17 odds.
The Patriots were brought back down to earth by the Bills in Week 16, but this is a spot to get back on track. Jacksonville’s ineffective offense may find issues here against New England’s third-ranked pass offense that’s allowed 275 or fewer total yards in six of the last eight games. The Jaguars have been held to 200 or fewer yards in three of the last five outings.
Top betting sites see a huge New England victory in this one with the biggest NFL Week 17 spread on the board entering the week, including at BetMGM, where you can get a $1000 risk-free bet using the BetMGM bonus code.

Kansas City Chiefs at Cincinnati Bengals, 1 p.m. ET
Take a look at Chiefs vs Bengals odds, injury report, betting lines and more.
It’s hard to remember the Chiefs were 3-4 through seven weeks. They’ve now won eight in a row and scored at least 34 points in the last three games and won the last six by an average of 28.5 ppg. The defense, meanwhile, has allowed just 13 ppg the last six weeks.
If Joe Burrow and the Bengals show up here like they did vs. the Ravens in Week 16, this might be the most-fun game to watch all year. Burrow went off for 525 yards and four TDs in a blowout win. KC’s defense was initially the catalyst for the team’s strong late-season run, but it’s allowed 400-plus yards in two of the last three weeks.
New York Giants at Chicago Bears, 1 p.m. ET
Take a look at Giants vs Bears odds, injury report, betting lines and more.
The Giants have managed 21 points just four times all season. They’re 1-10 when they don’t hit that mediocre mark. The QB situation has been a disaster since Daniel Jones was lost for the season. Saquon Barkley and the run game haven’t been able to step up. The two-time 1,000-yard rusher hasn’t gained 65 in a game yet and hasn’t scored a rush TD since Week 4.
Nick Foles got a start last week for Justin Fields, and low-and-behold the Bears scored 25 points and earned a last-minute win at Seattle. Chicago is still led by a defense that’s top 10 in yards allowed. Chicago is 3-2 when holding opponents to under 280 yards of total offense, and the Giants are averaging 265 ypg without QB Jones.
Atlanta Falcons at Buffalo Bills, 1 p.m. ET
Take a look at Falcons vs Bills odds, injury report, betting lines and more.
At 7-8, the Falcons are still in the hunt for a playoff berth. That’s not bad considering the team ranks 24th in total offense and 26th in total defense. The Falcons were outgained last week 338-224 by the hapless Lions but still found a way to win.
Josh Allen and the Bills showcased their top-10 pass game and top-ranked pass defense in a big road win over the Patriots in Week 16. Buffalo is only 2-5 vs. teams with winning records, but the Falcons don’t qualify. Buffalo has run roughshod over most of the competition it’s expected to. Atlanta has allowed the third-most TD passes and the fifth-most QB rush yards.

Houston Texans at San Francisco 49ers, 4:05 p.m. ET
Take a look at Texans vs 49ers odds, injury report, betting lines and more.
Davis Mills has had four 300-yard pass games for the Texans, including one last week in an upset win over the Chargers. He has eight TDs and one INT in those big-yard games, as well. He’ll get a test against a Niners defense that’s allowed over 256 yards passing three times all season.
San Francisco has won 5 of 7 to get back into the playoff chase; it’s averaging 160 rushing yards per game in the five wins and, compared to just 77 in the losses. No team allows more rush yards than the Texans. QB Jimmy Garoppolo (thumb) is questionable, but dual-threat rookie Trey Lance could boost the rushing potential. This one of the bigger spreads in NFL Week 17 odds.
Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Chargers, 4:05 p.m. ET
Take a look at Broncos vs Chargers odds, injury report, betting lines and more.
While the offense has been a hit-and-miss entity all season, the defense continues to get it done on its end, surrendering under 20 points to seven of the last nine opponents. Forcing turnovers has given the offense the boost it’s needed; Denver is 6-0 when forcing two of them and 1-8 when not. The offense gets QB Teddy Bridgewater back, a welcome return after managing just 158 yards with Drew Lock last game.
The Chargers couldn’t get it done against the two-win Texans in Week 16, and now their playoff hopes are in the balance. Justin Herbert passed for 334 yards but also two INTs, including a pick-6. L.A. is unbeaten when Herbert doesn’t toss a pick, and winless when he throws two.
Los Angeles Rams at Baltimore Ravens, 4:25 p.m. ET
Take a look at Rams vs Ravens odds, injury report, betting lines and more.
The Rams clinched a playoff berth despite three Matthew Stafford INTs. They’ve now won four in a row, but the defense has been nearly twice as effective at home. The last three road games, they’re allowing 393.7 ypg, compared to 201.7 at Sofi.
Baltimore owns one of the bottom pass defenses in the NFL, allowing 280 ypg through the air, and it’s been a feast-or-famine unit. Five opponents have passed for 340-plus yards and six for 225 or less. The Ravens have handled Stafford in two career meetings, limiting him to just two TDs with four INTs.

Detroit Lions at Seattle Seahawks, 4:25 p.m. ET
Take a look at Lions vs Seahawks odds, injury report, betting lines and more.
The Lions defense is playing like a team competing for something, but the offense hasn’t done its part by any stretch. They’ve scored 20-plus points just twice since Week 1. Despite that they’ve won, tied or lost by four or fewer points in six of the last seven games. The Lions held the Falcons to 254 total yards their last game – they hadn’t allowed fewer than 300 in a game yet – but still got beat 20-16. The Lions are huge underdogs in Week 17 odds at sportsbooks, including at Michigan sports betting sites.
Seattle will need to find a new focus after Russell Wilson & Co. were eliminated from playoff contention in a rough home loss to the Bears last week. Statistically speaking, few teams can match the inept level of the Seahawks, who rank 31st in both total offense and total defense. Seattle is 5-1 when it scores 28 points and Detroit has allowed that mark seven times.
Arizona Cardinals at Dallas Cowboys, 4:25 p.m. ET
Take a look at Cardinals vs Cowboys odds, injury report, betting lines and more.
The Cardinals have lost three straight, and the difference is the offense has favored passing over rushing. QB Kyler Murray has 49, 41 and 43 pass attempts in those three losses. In the eight wins he played, he never had more than 36 and averaged 29.8. Dallas ranks a subpar 24th in pass yards allowed. Arizona sports betting fans may be getting a little itchy with how their team has been performing.
Dak Prescott had only five TDs and five INTs the last five games, but he reverted back to his Pro Bowl-caliber ways on Sunday night vs. rival Washington with four TDs and over 300 yards in the first half. The 56-14 rout marked the third time the Cowboys had tallied 500-plus yards and the fourth win in a row. The defense has remained consistently solid, allowing 20 points or less in six of the last seven games.
Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers, 8:20 p.m. ET
Take a look at Packers vs Vikings odds, injury report, betting lines and more.
The Vikings need to win their final two games to have a shot at the postseason, but things got a lot harder with QB Kirk Cousins likely out for Sunday’s huge matchup with the Packers due to protocols. Sean Mannion, who has never thrown a TD in two starts and five seasons, gets the nod. Minnesota has fared better than any other opponent at Lambeau lately, with a 3-2-1 record the last six trips.
The Packers have the inside track at a first-round bye and homefield advantage in the NFC Playoffs. With the Lions on the Week 18 slate, this is a big one. The Packers have won 19 of 20 at home. The lone loss, the aforementioned Vikings win on Nov. 1, 2020. Aaron Rodgers has 54 TDs and seven INTs vs. Minnesota all-time.

Monday, Jan. 3
Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers, 8:15 p.m. ET
Take a look at Browns vs Steelers odds, injury report, betting lines and more.
The Browns’ season is on life support after a pair of losses that could have been wins to drop to 7-8. Cleveland arguably outplayed the Packers at Lambeau on Christmas, but four Baker Mayfield INTs and a missed extra point crushed hopes in a 24-22 defeat. Pittsburgh ranks 31st in run defense, but the Browns are 0-2 on their two biggest running days.
If running the ball and stopping the run are the keys to success, the Steelers are not doing it right. They are the NFL’s worst team in both categories yet at 7-7-1 are still in the playoff mix. They beat the Browns 15-10 earlier this year. A win here sets up a possible win-and-in game with the Ravens. Ben Roethlisberger’s turnover issues must stay away; the team is 0-6 when he tosses an INT and 7-0 when he doesn’t.
