Sunday, January 26 (NFC)
Washington Commanders at Philadelphia Eagles
3 p.m. (FOX)

Buzz: Tom Brady is back in the NFC Championship Game. But this time, he’ll in the booth for FOX. The Commanders and Eagles split their 2 games this past season, with the home team winning each time. Between the 2 games, the teams scored 113 points, hence the lofty total here. The weather in Philly is expected to be chilly and partly cloudy. No snow like we saw in the Eagles’ win on Sunday over the Rams. Philly held on for a push in the -6 line against LA. The Commanders mauled the Lions in their Divisional Round game 45-31 and did so inside Ford Field. Commanders rookie QB Jayden Daniels is playing like a seasoned all-pro. And the Commanders have found balance in their offense, and toughness in their defense. Their mission is simple – stop Saquon Barkley. Good luck. He amassed 296 yards rushing against the Commanders on 55 carries in the 2 PHI-WAS games earlier this season. The Commanders will have to play mistake-free ball here. And even with Barkley running wild, Dan Quinn's defense will contain the rest of the Eagles’ offense, while Daniels and the offense score enough points to cover, if not win outright.

Home teams are 35-18 SU in the NFC title game, which began following the 1970 season. Favorites have gone 36-18 straight up and 28-25-1 ATS. In the past 2 NFC title games, the favorite won but failed to cover. The 49ers (-7.5) beat the Lions 34-31 in 20214. And 2 years ago, the Rams (-3.5) beat the 49ers 20-17.

Sunday, January 26 (AFC)
Bills/Ravens vs. Kansas City Chiefs
6:30 p.m. (CBS)

Buzz: Welcome to the Kansas City invitational. The Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes meet Josh Allen and the Bills for the 4th time in the postseason. KC is 3-0. Mahomes, Andy Reid, and the Chiefs are playing in their 7th consecutive AFC title game. KC is 2 wins away from being the first team to three-peat in the Super Bowl. KC has yet to score more than 30 points this season but are 16-2. Despite all that is Mahomes, and the resurgence of Travis Kelce in the Divisional Round win over Houston, Kansas City’s defense has been its driving force this season. KC allowed Houston only 1 TD on Saturday. And the Chiefs’ defense ranked 4th in the regular season allowing just 19.2 PPG. And for those who believe in such things, there’s little doubt the NFL wants nothing less than Taylor Swift (and her new NFL BFF Caitlin Clark) cheering the Chiefs from a luxury box in Mercedes Benz Stadium on Super Bowl Sunday.

The Bills outlasted the Ravens 27-25 on Sunday as Mark Andrews dropped a game-tying 2-point conversion. They handed the Chiefs their only loss of the season when it mattered. Allen iced the 30-21 victory in Week 13 with a spectacular 26-yard TD run bouncing off a pair of KC defenders. The Bills held the Chiefs to just 7 points in the second half of that game. The Chiefs were held to just 259 total yards. This time, the Bills are too deep. Allen is atop his game. He and the Bills finally get to the Super Bowl.

The Chiefs have disappointed spread bettors all season and stand 8-10 ATS despite their stellar record. Home teams are 37-17 since the AFC Championship Game was first played in 1970, which was the first season of the post-NFL/AFL merger. Favorites have gone 39-15 straight up and 31-22-1 ATS.

Best Bet: Bills +1.5 (-110) DraftKings
Best Bet: Under 49.5 Points (-110)  FanDuel

AFC & NFC Championship Game Betting History

Betting on the AFC and NFC Championship Games is only surpassed by the Super Bowl in terms of single-day handle.

Home teams are 37-17 since the AFC Championship Game was first played in 1970, which was the first season of the post-NFL/AFL merger.

Favorites have gone 39-15 straight up and 31-22-1 ATS.

Betting history on the game total goes back to the 1986 season’s AFC Championship Game. Since then, the over has gone 20-18.

In the NFC, home teams are 35-18 since the first NFC title game following the 1970 season. Favorites have gone 36-18 straight up and 28-25-1 ATS. In the past 2 NFC title games, the favorite won but failed to cover. Last year, the 49ers (-7.5) beat the Lions 34-31. And 2 years ago, the Rams (-3.5) beat the 49ers 20-17.

NFC Championship Games have been traditionally higher-scoring than their AFC counterparts. The over has gone 22-16 since those numbers were first recorded in the 1986 season NFC game. The “overs” are on a nice run heading into this week, having gone 7-3 over the past 10 games.

We’ve seen some lofty totals in the NFC, as well. Last season’s game closed with a total of 53.5. The total number of points scored was 65.
