With the No. 14 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts may prioritize upgrading their offense after addressing key gaps in the secondary through free agency. The most pressing need for the Colts remains at tight end, a position where they ranked last in production last season.

The draft features enough depth at tight end to provide the Colts with a potential first-year starter. Quarterback Anthony Richardson would certainly benefit from a reliable target, as well as additional support on the offensive line.

In addition to acquiring quarterback Daniel Jones, the Colts made significant investments in free agency, signing cornerback Charvarius Ward and safety Camryn Bynum to bolster their defense.

Despite these moves, the Colts still have multiple areas to address. Holding the No. 14 pick, they face a challenging decision, as some of their top choices may be off the board by the time they are on the clock.

As the NFL Draft approaches, veteran oddsmaker Adam Thompson of Bookies.com has compiled hypothetical NFL odds for sports betting on who the Colts might select with their first pick.

Potential Colts First Pick: Player Breakdown

Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State (+450)

Tyler Warren was dominant in the Big Ten and stood out at the NFL Combine as a top tight end prospect. At 6-foot-5 ½ and 256 pounds, he provides a large target for quarterbacks. Though his athleticism has been questioned at times, he still earned an "Elite" rating and a "Year 1 Starter" projection from NFL Next Gen Stats. Warren also won the 2024 John Mackey Award as the nation’s best tight end, making him a strong long-term solution at the position.

Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan (+475)

There’s no shame in being the No. 2 tight end in this draft class. Colston Loveland also received a “Year 1 Starter” grade from NFL Next Gen Stats after the combine. At 6-foot-6 and 248 pounds, he has the frame and catch radius to be a reliable target. He plays with the instincts of a wide receiver, running effective routes at all levels. While he has the toughness to compete against NFL defenses, his base speed needs improvement. However, with experience, he could develop into a top-tier player.

Will Johnson, CB, Michigan (+550)

Will Johnson played a pivotal role in Michigan’s 2023 National Championship-winning defense. His interception in the title game against Michael Penix Jr. (now with the Falcons) was a game-changing moment. Although considered a "boom-or-bust" prospect by NFL Next Gen Stats, Johnson is the top-ranked cornerback in this draft. However, it’s unlikely he will still be available when the Colts pick at No. 14.

Malaki Starks, S, Georgia (+550)

A two-time national champion at Georgia, Malaki Starks has extensive big-game experience and has excelled against top SEC offenses. He possesses the size and versatility to thrive in the NFL. Starks finished as the second-ranked safety at the NFL Combine, according to NFL Next Gen Stats, and has the tools and mentality to be a long-term starter.

Darien Porter, CB, Iowa State (+700)

Darien Porter is projected lower than some of the other corners and safeties in this draft, but his odds reflect his likely availability at No. 14. If the Colts decide to address their secondary in the first round, they will likely prefer Will Johnson—if he’s still available. If not, Porter would be a solid alternative.

Kenneth Grant, DL, Michigan (+900)

Kenneth Grant was a key contributor to Michigan’s 2023 national championship team. At 6-foot-4 and 331 pounds, he was effective as both a run-stuffer and pass-rusher. A three-down lineman in college, Grant’s availability at No. 14 is uncertain, which contributes to his longer odds in this betting market.

Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas (+950)

Jahdae Barron was graded as the No. 2 cornerback at the NFL Combine, per NFL Next Gen Stats. Despite standing at 5-foot-11, he plays larger than his frame and has excellent route recognition skills. His instincts have allowed him to compensate for a lack of elite speed, though that may be harder to overcome at the NFL level.

Kelvin Banks Jr., T, Texas (+1000)

Kelvin Banks Jr. is considered one of the top two left tackles in the draft, making it unlikely that he will still be available at No. 14. At the NFL Combine, he ranked fourth among offensive tackles according to NFL Next Gen Stats. His 33 ½-inch arms exceed the 33-inch threshold scouts typically look for in a tackle. Banks won both the 2024 Lombardi Award and the Outland Trophy, underscoring his dominance in the trenches. While he started 15 games last season, he missed the SEC Championship Game due to an ankle injury.
