Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs look to remain in play for a first-round bye in the AFC Playoffs when they visit the Windy City to face Mitchell Trubisky and the Chicago Bears for Sunday Night Football.

The Chiefs (10-4) have covered the spread in four-straight games while the Bears (7-7) have fought as home underdogs, on a 12-3-1 ATS run facing that situation.

The Bears are out of the playoff picture and the line has skyrocketed. But Chicago’s playing better lately and Trubisky has shown progress over the few weeks.

The spread has jumped to a point when I feel more comfortable taking the points on a Bears team that’s 7-1-1 ATS in its last nine at home against winning teams, and 5-1 ATS in its last six in December.

PICK 2: Under 46 Points

The Bears have been an Under machine all season, but now the Chiefs’ defense is playing its best ball of the year and the Under has hit in KC’s last four games, too. Trubisky isn’t going to light up anyone.

The Bears defense — which has allowed 17.3 ppg in the last eight weeks and never more than 24 in a game — will be amped up in primetime against Mahomes for its final home game of the year.

PICK 3: First TD — Chiefs

We’re talking one of the fastest-starting teams against one of the slowest, and this stat magnifies that. The last game the Chiefs didn’t score their game’s first TD was the game in which Mahomes didn’t play, eight weeks ago against the Packers. The Bears have managed the first TD in just two of their last nine games.

PICK 4: Most Punts — Bears

Only the Jets have booted it away more than the Bears, who average a big 5.4 punts per game. Not surprising, the Chiefs average fewer than that, but it’s way fewer, to the tune of 3.1 per game. The odds are lower than expected.

PICK 5: Chiefs First Half Points — Over 13.5

The last eight weeks, the Chiefs have scored under 13 points just once and have averaged 16.6 ppg. The Bears have allowed 10.3 ppg the last three weeks. With the Chiefs playing for a bye, look for them to come out firing.
