Aaron Rodgers is certainly one of the great quarterbacks in NFL history. But is there enough left in the tank for a Super Bowl run? It’s not happening this season. 

Rodgers is in the midst of the worst season of his future Hall of Fame career, and the Jets, a Super Bowl contender, are 3-8 through 12 weeks and essentially looking toward 2025 with an entirely new coaching staff and front office, raising questions about the impact on their  NFL futures.

How about a new QB? Will the new GM and coach want a 41-year-old Rodgers to try to re-find his form, or would they prefer a fresh start? If Rodgers isn’t in New York, where will he be? Certainly, Rodgers is still an upgrade over many QB situations.

Analyzing Potential 2025 Team Destinations

Rodgers has a Super Bowl ring and four Most Valuable Player Awards. Teams believing they’re a reliable QB from competing will call on Rodgers, if he’s available. 

Rodgers has a no-trade clause (which he can veto), but the Jets could cut him with a post-June 1 designation and spread the dead-cap money produced from the release over two years. 

The Jets may still be the best option for winning a Super Bowl. While the season has been a disaster, on paper this New York team has the pieces in place for another run next season. 

People got excited two off-seasons ago about a possible Rodgers-to-Pittsburgh connection. It didn’t happen, but the Steelers may be in the running again this winter. Russell Wilson will both be unrestricted free agents, leaving a spot under centner for a contender. It makes sense for both sides to look into it. 

The Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants likely don’t have their starting QBs on the roster. Both will be primed to pick one up at the 2025 NFL Draft as part of rebuilds. 

The Cleveland Browns have Deshaun Watson, but that hasn’t exactly worked. A QB-for-QB trade could be intriguing for both sides, as the Browns are built to win now and Watson could thrive with a fresh start and change of scenery. 

Sam Darnold will be a free agent for the Minnesota Vikings, as will Nick Mullens, leaving unproven rookie J.J. McCarthy as the top option for a team that wants to compete now. Would he follow Brett Favre’s path from Green Bay-to-New York-to Minnesota?
