Alvin Kamara has been as deft a pass-catcher as he is a rusher in his six seasons as the RB1 in the New Orleans Saints’ offense. He’s having a bounce-back 2022, and on a team that is currently on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoffs. That makes him a very valuable trade chip.

Kamara’s name has been linked to Super Bowl 57 betting contenders who could use one extra bolt of offensive energy. That he scored three TDs in Sunday’s 24-0 blanking of the Raiders didn’t damage his trade value.

But will the Saints move on from their best and most-reliable offensive weapon? Bookies.com oddsmaker Adam Thompson has revealed his hypothetical NFL odds on where Kamara finishes the year.

Buffalo Bills +425 19.1%

Kamara has made the Pro Bowl in all five completed seasons with the Saints, despite starting over 10 games just once. Nagging injuries have made him slightly unreliable on a week in, week out basis, but when he’s out there, he’s a force.

Kamara has 700 all-purpose yards in six games of action this year. He’s at a similar level to Christian McCaffrey and Derrick Henry on a per-game statistical basis.

Will Saints Trade Kamara?

Contenders not getting much out of the RB spot, or those that believe they can get more, should be interested if Kamara is on the block. The question is, is he?

The Eagles and Bills reportedly inquired about Kamara, but “were rebuffed.” It doesn’t mean the Saints wouldn’t trade Kamara, but it might take “a substantial offer” according to one reporter who covers the team.

New Orleans was 2-5 heading into Sunday, but smashed the Raiders and are only one game behind the surprising Falcons for first place in the NFC South. The Saints may feel they’re a playoff contender, especially once their receiving corps heals up.

Who Would Trade For Kamara?

The Bills and Eagles are the top teams on most Super Bowl odds charts at legit online sportsbooks right now. Each has a mobile QB that has boosted rushing numbers. Buffalo’s Devin Singletary averages a modest 46.1 yards per game and Buffalo has used two draft picks the last two years seeking an upgrade (to no avail). Philly’s Miles Sanders is at 80.4 ypg but has missed at least four games in each of the last two seasons.

The Rams’ season is fading, in part due to an offense that ranks 31st in rushing. The defending Super Bowl champions have veterans looking to win before windows close. The Dolphins appear to be going all-in on this season. Adding Kamara would not only mean another weapon for an offense that’s 28th in rushing, but it would mean keeping a weapon away from Buffalo.

The Broncos can’t seem to decide whether they’re buyers or sellers. On paper, Denver has a top-level defense and a lot of offensive weaponry, but the run game has fizzled with Javonte Williams out for the season. There’s time to make a run, which would be more viable with Kamara behind Russell Wilson in the backfield.
