AFC Playoffs hopefuls heading in different directions face off in a critical Monday Night Football matchup for Week 13, as Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars host Ja’Marr Chase and the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Jaguars (8-3) have won seven of their last six games, the lone blemish vs. mighty San Francisco. Meanwhile, the Bengals (5-6) have dropped three in a row as they attempt to move on after Joe Burrow’s season-ending injury.

Jacksonville is a solid -8.5 in the latest Bengals vs. Jaguars NFL odds. The Over/Under for total points scored is a modest 38.5 points.

Bookies.com veteran NFL handicapper Adam Thompson – who has hit on a whopping 62-64% of his NFL picks three years running, reveals his plays for the primetime showdown.

Jake Browning has been just fine so far in place of Burrow, and he should get Tee Higgins back from injury. Joe Mixon has been a mess and the defense has really regressed – those are the issues. Trevor Lawrence is dealing but he’s historically not been as sharp in the friendly confines.

The only other time Jacksonville was favored by more than 6.5 points, it lost straight-up by 20. That said, while both teams might struggle to run the ball, both teams should be able to throw. If Browning doesn’t regress, the Bengals should keep it close enough, with a backdoor cover in our back pocket. Take the Bengals to cover with the big points.

While both teams have matchups to exploit in the passing game, it’s been a challenge for both sides to show much consistency on that side of the ball. Jacksonville has managed over 24 points just once in the last four weeks (vs. The Titans’ horrible road defense), while the Bengals have managed 20 and 10 points with Browning.

Unders have been crushing it with consistency on Monday nights, and while that is the pick here, it’s not our favorite pick of the evening. That’s reserve for the spread.

Bengals vs. Jaguars Moneyline Pick

Jacksonville is a major -375 on the moneyline (risk $375 to win $100 in profit), while Cincinnati is at +295 at the best betting apps. The Jaguars have had their share of eggs, but they’ve seemed to figure out the formula for success under second-year coach Doug Pederson.

Meanwhile, the Bengals are trending downward. Losing Burrow is obviously a major blow, and while Higgins should return, RB Joe Mixon is not taking much pressure off the rookie QB. We are taking Cincy to cover, but not to win.

Bengals vs. Jaguars Top Player Props

Trevor Lawrence, Over 10.5 Rushing Yards

Odds: -120 at BetMGM

It’s a modest stat, but when Lawrence rushes for over 13 yards, the Jaguars are 6-1. When he takes off at least three times, they’re 6-2. The Bengals have allowed the third-most rushing yards to QBs and the second-most rush attempts. Lawrence has gained over 10 yards in all but three games and could hit this number by halftime. Lock in the Over on Trevor’s scrambles at BetMGM.

Evan Engram, Over 42.5 Yards

Odds: -115 at Caesars

Engram managed just 12 yards and 29 yards in back-to-back weeks before catching five balls for 49 yards last week vs. the Texans. Prior to that mini-slump, however, he had seven-plus receptions in four of six games, and 41-plus yards in all but one. The Bengals have specific defensive issues, and one of the big ones is guarding tight ends. They’re allowing an average of 6.4 receptions and 70.8 yards to the position, both bottom-three NFL rankings. Look for Engram’s Over at Caesars.
