On Wednesday, the Dallas Cowboys reached a long-term extension with their star running back, Ezekiel Elliott. While the team still has several big-name players they need to sign to deals, such as Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper, and Byron Jones, they will enter the 2019 season without any holdouts or disgruntled players.

In light of the Elliott news, how should fans of NFL betting approach the Dallas Cowboys in 2019? With arguably the best player under contract, should that make you more optimistic about their chances this season? Here are the bests bets for the Cowboys in 2019:

Cowboys Over 9 Wins (+105)

Not surprisingly, the Cowboys' win total didn't move despite the return of Elliott for a few reasons. The first being that most oddsmakers assumed Elliott would be back for Week 1 or shortly after that. And with the Cowboys being seven-point favorites over the Giants in Week 1, that wasn't likely going to shift their win total odds at all.

The other factor is that running backs just don't move lines very much. As great as Elliott is, it is unlikely that Dallas' win total on the season would have shifted by more than 0.5 games or so if the All-Pro running back wasn't available for the entire season.

Nevertheless, betting the over (+105) here make sense as the Cowboys have never won less than nine games with Prescott under center. And in each of the two years in which Elliott played the entire season, the Cowboys have reached double-digit wins each time. Bet the over with confidence.

Cowboys to Win The Divison (+165)

Despite bringing back Elliott from his holdout, the Cowboys are the clear-cut No. 2 team in the NFC East according to oddsmakers. Currently, Dallas has odds of +165 to win the division, behind only the Eagles at -134.

Despite winning the division in two of the last three years, there are some concerning trends for Dallas. There hasn't been a repeat division winner in the NFC East since 2004 as it is routinely one of the most competitive divisions in sports. And considering Dallas will play a first-place schedule in 2019, it does seem rather unlikely they will win the division for a third time in four seasons.

However, at +165, there is more value in picking the Cowboys to win the division than betting on the Eagles.

Cowboys to Make the Playoffs (+110)

If you are one who believes the Eagles may steal the division away from Dallas, consider betting on the team to make the playoffs rather than just winning the division. Despite a loaded NFC, the Cowboys have shown that they are a legit contender in the conference over the last three seasons.

However, should you bet on the Cowboys to make the playoffs at +110? The potential payout might not be quite high enough yet as there are safer bets on the board, such as over on wins (9, +105). Dallas very well could get to 10 wins again this season but fail to make the playoffs due to the other teams in the conference. Considering placing a bet elsewhere unless the odds change here.

Cowboys Super Bowl Odds (+2200)

Of all the odds listed above, the only one to change since the signing of Elliott is Dallas' Super Bowl odds. Previously, they were +2500 to take home the Lombardi Trophy, but that number has improved to +2200 since Elliott's contract signing. And frankly, it's still not a bad bet.

Dallas has all the pieces on both sides of the ball to make a run in the playoffs. While they may not be the favorite in the NFC, they are a fine futures price considering the potential payout. Don't be afraid to pick the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl in 2019.
