Broncos vs Jets Betting Analysis

No team in the NFL has been more banged up than the Broncos. They have already lost Drew Lock, Courtland Sutton and Von Miller in the first few weeks of the season. But despite their injuries, they open this game as 2.5-point favorites over the Jets on the road. Denver has been surprisingly good against the spread as of late, covering in 10 of their last 15 games.

The Jets are one of the worst teams in the NFL. New York averages just 12.3 points per game in its first three contests. The Jets are averaging just 175 passing yards per game as their top-three pass-catchers have all missed time with injuries. QB Sam Darnold has never looked comfortable in the offense as the offensive line and receiving weapons have been decimated with injuries. Their defense hasn't been much better after losing several linebackers to injuries and the lack of a pass-rush prohibits them from getting any takeaways.

Broncos vs Jets Thursday Night Football Odds, Tips & Picks 1

From a betting perspective, the Jets have been difficult to figure out. They have covered the spread in just two of their last six games, but they have been surprisingly good at home. They've won four of their last five home games as they finished the 2019 season strong.

However, it's tough to get too excited about the Jets as they have not scored more than 22 points in their previous eight contests. As uninspiring as the Broncos have been this season, it's hard to have any confidence in the Jets, even as home underdogs. Take the Broncos to win and cover this spread at DraftKings in what could be one of the sloppiest games of the week.

As for the point total, these are two offenses that have struggled to find any rhythm. That is why the point total early in the week is 40. However, Thursday Night Football has traditionally featured higher-scoring games. Perhaps this can jumpstart each offense. It is worth noting that the under has hit in four of the last six games for Denver and in six of the last nine for New York; neither team has the offensive firepower to get into any shootouts.

With that being said, don't be surprised if each team approaches 20-21 points in this contest, allowing the over to hit. Each side has a significant amount of injuries on defense and the Jets are giving up more than 31 points per game in the first three weeks of the season.

Take the over here at FOX Bet expecting a lot of field goals and potentially defensive scores to get to 40 points. It won't look pretty, but each side should be able to generate enough offense for this point total to go over.
