Browns vs Bengals Betting Analysis

After nearly pulling off an impressive comeback against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Bengals head into Week 2 at 0-1. However, there is a lot to be excited about as Joe Burrow appears to be the real deal. But will he be able to overcome a lousy offensive line all season long?

It was a significant issue in Week 1, and it limited what the offense was able to do down the field. They will be tested again this week as the Browns have one of the best pass rushers in the NFL in Myles Garrett. If he can be slowed down, the rest of the offense should be able to function at a reasonable level.

As for the Browns, their offense continues to look clunky under Baker Mayfield. In Week 1, the Browns finished the game with just 168 passing yards on 39 attempts. Mayfield continues to struggle with accuracy and just hasn't been in sync with his receivers.

And the offense isn't even the biggest concern for the Browns right now. Cleveland's defense allowed Lamar Jackson to average 11 yards per attempt through the air on Sunday as the pass defense was torched. With a ton of injuries in the secondary, the team doesn't have a lot of talent to match up with a competent passing game. That is why Thursday night could be a big test for the Browns as the Bengals are loaded with talent at the receiver position.

This is a game the Browns should win and need to win. They are at home and desperately need to avoid getting off to an 0-2 start. It is worth noting that the Bengals have struggled on the road lately, losing 12 straight away from home. Cleveland, on the other hand, has done pretty well at home. The Browns have won four of their last five games at FirstEnergy Stadium and will have a few thousand fans to watch this AFC North matchup.

For that reason, take the Browns to win this game outright at DraftKings, even though there isn't a lot of value on the moneyline.

However, consider taking the Bengals against the spread in this contest. Both teams will play with a sense of urgency and Cincinnati has fared well in keeping these games close as of late. The Bengals have covered the spread in nine of their last 11 meetings against the Browns and have even won eight of the previous 11 games.

Expect this game to be close, likely coming down to the final possession.

As for the point total, these are two offenses looking to find themselves early in the season. While each opposing defense won't offer much resistance, don't anticipate this being a high-scoring contest. Both teams will likely struggle to get to 20 or more points, allowing the under to hit reasonably easily.

Expect a sloppy Thursday Night Football game in which the Browns win, the Bengals cover and the under hitting in Cleveland.
