Horse Racing Betting Tips

Tip 1 - 3:05 Haydock - Aegean Prince

Aegean Prince has clearly had his problems, with only four starts to his name as we approach the far end of his four-year-old season. His two runs in 2025 marked him up as one to follow though. A commanding eight-length success in an Ascot notice was followed up by a runner-up effort in a French listed race. Back from over 300 days off here, he drops into handicap company. Despite having to concede weight all round, he has the potential to be a grade or two better than these.

Tip 2 - 3:25 Ascot - Balzac

The price for the current favourite Gavriel looks awfully short given what he has produced thus far, even if he is from the great Frankel. One horse who looks a long way overpriced is Balzac. Most recent form of 11th and 14th might scare punters off, but three of his last four contests have been in Listed and Group 1 company. Placed twice in Listed affairs and only really disappointed last time out. Has since been gelded and now dropping back into a Class 3, he could be a real danger.

Tip 3 - 4:00 Ascot - Luna Celeste

Luna Celeste is in the midst of an impressive first season and goes into this one on a hat trick after claiming wins at Nottingham and Pontefract over the last couple of months. She’s now gone 1211 on turf and looked very comfortable in her Class 3 victory last time out, so stepping up today isn’t a huge deal. Her 8lb rise may prove to be prohibitive, but she clearly has a lot about her and is likely to keep progressing.

Tip 4 - 4:40 Stratford - Gambino

Gambino looks a different horse following a wind-op. Since his surgery he is two from two, and even had time to wander round on the home straight before winning last time out. The form should have some substance as well as he beat a well backed Mullins horse on the first of those wins. Turned out quickly again here Dan Skelton looks to have a decent one on his hands here.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
