Buccaneers vs Bears Betting Analysis

After a disappointing Week 1 loss to the New Orleans Saints, Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have now rattled off three straight wins and look like the team to beat in the NFC South. On a short week, they will take on a Chicago Bears team that just suffered its first loss of the season against the Indianapolis Colts.

Chicago has been awful against the spread as of late, failing to cover the spread in 12 of its last 16 games. However, the Bears are 5.5-point home dogs on a short week. Typically, the home team fares well on Thursday Night Football due to not having to travel and a team like Chicago getting 5.5 points seems like too many.

The Bears have covered the spread in four of their last five games against NFC South opponents and they have the defense to slow down Brady and their passing attack.

Through four weeks, Chicago has allowed just over 20 points per game and they are one of the league's best teams at creating a pass rush. Given the questionable status of the Buccaneers' receivers, it wouldn't be a shock if the Bears slowed down their offense. For that reason, the Bears are a strong play against the spread this week and you can even make the case they are an excellent moneyline bet at +205.

For the Bears to upset the Buccaneers, they will need their offense back on track after scoring just 11 points against the Colts in Week 4. New starting quarterback Nick Foles did appear to develop a connection with Allen Robinson, but he needs to utilize his other receivers for the offense to take off.

They don't need Foles to be Superman, but to take care of the ball and make a few big chunk plays throughout the course of the game. Don't be surprised if Matt Nagy finds a way to jumpstart this offense with trick plays and misdirection to keep the Buccaneers off balance. Take the Bears to win and cover this spread at DraftKings at home.

As for the point total, this game features two of the best defenses in the NFL. Both rank in the Top 10 in points per game allowed on defense and have playmakers on all three levels. It's also worth noting that the Under has not hit in six of the last seven games for the Bears in Chicago, but Thursday Night Football games tend to be high-scoring as defenses lag behind after playing just four days earlier.

Both teams give up big plays in the passing game and are dealing with injuries in the secondary. Look for each to score into the low-to-mid 20s and for the Over to ultimately hit -110 with FOX Bet .
