Ron Rivera had four seasons to get the Washington Commanders to the next level. It didn’t happen, and new owner Josh Harris will embark on his first head coach hire this off-season.
The Commanders parted ways with Rivera on Black Monday following their Week 18 finale vs. the Cowboys. Rivera didn’t have a winning season in Washington. The new coach will inherit an offense with potential, led by QB Sam Howell, and a defense that ranked dead-last in points and yards allowed.
Bookies.com veteran oddsmaker Adam Thompson has used his resources of NFL contacts developed over 20 years covering the league to create and update his NFL futures odds on who’s leading the Commanders out of the tunnel in 2024.

Who Will Be The Commanders' Next Coach?
Coordinators on both sides of the ball are getting interviews, and Washington has its fair share of interviews and requests planned.
The Commanders were reportedly honing in on coordinators who helped get their teams to the conference championship round. That included Lions DC Aaron Glenn of the Lions and Ravens OC Todd Monken.
Lions OC Ben Johnson pulled his name out of the running on Jan. 30 when he decared he was staying in Detroit. Ravens DC Mike Macdonald was named coach of the Seahakws on Jan. 31.
Given Washington’s defensive issues, a pairing of Cowboys DC Dan Quinn, Glenn or Raiders defensive line coach Anthony Weaver with current offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy could be strongly on the radar. Quinn has veteran savvy and has led a team to the Super Bowl (Falcons), Glenn is one of the brighter young minds, Weaver is a player's coach, and the Commanders locker room could use a boost.

Bieniemy should get consideration for the top job, too. The former OC of the powerful Chiefs, Bieniemy has been a runner-up on several head jobs over the years. This could be the best chance.
Legendary New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick won't be back with the team he led to six Super Bowl championships. The Commanders are reportedly kicking the tires on Belichick in the hopes both sides can seek a fresh start in 2024 – even if the fresh start involves a 71-year-old leader.
