One of the better games of Week 2 will feature the Dallas Cowboys traveling to Los Angeles to take on the Chargers. The Cowboys nearly upset the Buccaneers on the opening night of the season but allowed Tom Brady to march down the field to set up the game-winning field goal. Still, it was an impressive performance by Dak Prescott and the Cowboys in Week 1.

Another team that impressed in the initial week of the season were the Chargers, who won on the road in Washington. The offensive line held up well against one of the best pass-rush units in the NFL, and that’s a great sign for the long-term future of this franchise. Both the Cowboys and Chargers have playoff aspirations in 2021. This should be a phenomenal contest during the late afternoon slate of games.

To get you ready for this NFC-AFC matchup, here is everything you need to know from an NFL betting perspective going into Week 2.

Cowboys vs. Chargers Key Matchups

Cowboys RT Terence Steele vs. Chargers DE Joey Bosa: Starting RT La’el Collins is suspended, which means Steele will get the start. Bosa should easily win this matchup and record multiple sacks in Week 2.

Cowboys WR Amari Cooper vs. Chargers CB Chris Harris: Cooper exploded for 139 yards in Week 1, but Harris is one of the best man-to-man cornerbacks in the league. The winner of this matchup will likely decide the game.

Chargers WR Mike Williams vs. Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs: Diggs did an excellent job shutting down Mike Evans in Week 1 and will see another big receiver in Week 2.

5 Key Cowboys vs. Chargers Stats

4-1: The Cowboys’ record ATS in their last five games.

5: Current win streak by the Chargers, dating back to the 2020-21 NFL season.

4-1: The Chargers’ record ATS in their last five games against NFC opponents.

2-10: The Cowboys’ record in their last 12 road games.

6-2: The Over has hit in six of the last eight games for the Cowboys.

Cowboys vs Chargers Player Prop Bets

Chargers QB Justin Herbert over 302 passing yards -110 on DraftKings : Without DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory, Herbert should have all day to pick apart the defense for the Cowboys. And with this game having an incredibly high point total, Herbert will likely need to throw all game long to keep up with Dallas.

Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott over 58.5 rushing yards -110 on DraftKings : Dallas abandoned the run game in Week 1, but don’t expect that to be the case in Week 2. The Cowboys will want to lean on Elliott to protect their offensive line and defense. Elliott should see 18-20 carries in this Week 2 matchup.

Chargers WR Keenan Allen over 77.5 receiving yards -110 on DraftKings : If you believe Herbert will throw for over 302 yards, then another safe bet is to wager on Allen over 77.5 yards. The Cowboys don’t have anyone to matchup with him in the secondary, and he is Herbert’s No. 1 target. It would not be a surprise if Allen saw 12 or more targets in this matchup.

Cowboys vs. Chargers Moneyline

The Cowboys did look impressive in Week 1 despite falling to the Buccaneers. But it was a costly win for Dallas as they will likely be without four starters from that game, including Michael Gallup, Randy Gregory (COVID-19), La’el Collins (suspension) and Donovon Wilson.

Those are four key losses for any team, but especially for a team with as little depth as Dallas. The Chargers were also very impressive in Week 1 and now return home in Week 2. This is one of the easiest NFL picks of the week, as the Chargers are great value in Week 2. Take the Chargers (-180) on DraftKings .

Cowboys vs. Chargers Point Spread

NFL fans generally overreact to Week 1, which leads to sportsbooks and betting sites setting big lines in Week 2. However, there are a few NFL spreads this week that feel off, including this game.

As previously mentioned, the Cowboys are dealing with a number of injuries on both sides of the ball. Losing Collins and Gallup on offense is costly as Dallas’ main path to victory is to outscore teams. Against one of the better defenses in the league, the Cowboys could struggle to keep this competitive.

Los Angeles getting only 3 points feels a bit low as this line should be closer to 4.5 or 5, especially considering that both Derwin James and Joey Bosa are healthy. Needless to say, take the Chargers to cover the spread (-3, -110) on BetMGM. But you should still shop around for the best lines from your favorite betting apps as this line differs on sites.

Cowboys vs. Chargers Totals

The total for this game opened at 55 points, which feels about right considering how strong both offenses can be in any week. The Cowboys have averaged 31.5 points per game in Dak Prescott’s last six starts, but the defense has allowed 35.1 points in those same games.

Even if the Cowboys struggle some on offense, look for the Chargers to score into the low 30s, allowing the over to hit. Take the Over 55 points (-110) on FanDuel, as this could be a high-scoring shootout in Los Angeles.
