Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles get one final shot at turning around their season when they take on Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a Monday night showdown for NFL Wild Card Weekend. 

The Eagles (11-6) have lost five of their last six games, but back in Week 3 they manhandled the Buccaneers (9-8), who get the home game here for winning the NFC South, despite finishing two games behind Philly overall.

The Eagles are favored based on expectations, but not based on actual results. They’re banged up and have lost five of their last six, including duds to the Giants and Cardinals, and blowout defeats to the two playoff-bound opponents. 

The Buccaneers have improved over the course of the season. They’re still inconsistent but find ways to win. Philly rolled Tampa 25-11 in Week 3, but that was a long time ago. We’re fading the public on this one. Lock in host Tampa to cover at ESPN BET.

The Eagles have been a mostly confounding bunch, scoring 30-plus twice in their six-game slide and under 20 points in all other four occasions. Regardless, the Under is the trend. It’s The Under is a combined 13-4 in Philly road games and Tampa home games, and the total points have been especially low of late in Bucs road games. 

The Under is also 4-0 in Bucs games vs. opponents that average over 25 ppg. Philly is just over that mark. The Bucs managed a brutal 174 total yards in the first meeting between these teams, back in Week 3. Despite both pass defenses being less than stellar, we can’t expect either offense to cruise up and down the field. Take the Under, but as a smaller play, on MNF.

Hurts said he hasn’t thrown a football since dislocating his finger in the middle of the Eagles’ 27-10 loss to the Giants. He’s also gained over 34 rushing yards just once in the last six games. His top weapons, A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, are also less than 100%. It all makes for a long day for Hurts, even against the Buccaneers’ subpar pass D. Back the Under on Hurts at DraftKings.

Hurts and his WRs are going to have issues, but he’s still going to throw the ball. Perhaps a shorter route, like ones in the middle of the field to a tight end, would be better.
