Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is the NFL betting favorite to be the next head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders, but several other names of note are in the mix.

The Raiders are searching for a new head coach and general manager. The team fired GM Mike Mayock after a first-round loss to the Bengals in the playoffs. Head coach Jon Gruden quit after damaging emails surfaced from his past featuring sexist and derogatory comments. Interim head coach Rich Bisaccia took over in Week 6 and led the Raiders to a 7-5 finish.

Of all the current candidates working in the NFL, Bisaccia is the top pick to get the gig full-time moving forward. He is +250, according to oddsmakers at DraftKings.

Harbaugh is the top pick to take over the Silver and Black on the field, getting +125 at DraftKings. The brother of Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, the younger Harbaugh guided San Francisco to three straight NFC championship games and a Super Bowl in his first three years coaching the 49ers.

Harbaugh served as the Raiders QB coach from 2002-03. He is reportedly unhappy with his compensation at Michigan. His name is also featured in several other “next head coach” NFL odds markets, as well.

Among the other candidates featured in betting markets to be the next head coach of the Raiders at betting sites and betting apps: Former Eagles head coach Doug Pederson, New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and Buffalo offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.

Harbaugh would give the Raiders the sort of splash that is commonplace in Sin City. Harbaugh beat Ohio State this season and given the continued dominance of the SEC and Clemson when it comes to the College Football Playoff, it’s a real possibility the Wolverines maxed out by winning the Big Ten and getting to the college playoff before being demolished by the eventual national champion Georgia Bulldogs in the semifinals.

New Raiders GM Could Impact Coaching Choice

There’s been no clear messaging from Raiders ownership on what role and how much impact its next GM will have in hiring the next head coach. The Raiders have interviewed Bengals scout Trey Brown, Chicago assistant director of player personnel Champ Kelly, and Patriots director of player personnel Dave Ziegler. Colts vice president of player personnel Ed Dodds will be interviewed for the job, as well.

If the Raiders were to hire Ziegler, that could impact the price of McDaniels given their close relationship in Foxboro.

Thus far, in addition to Bisaccia, the only head coaching candidate interviewed by the Raiders is Patriots LB coach Jerod Mayo. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the team seeks to interview San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans, as well. San Francisco shut down Green Bay 13-10 in the NFC Divisional Playoffs Saturday.

Offensive minded coaches like Brian Daboll, Doug Pederson and Harbaugh are coveted throughout the league given the importance that the rule-makers on Park Avenue and the TV networks place on scoring.
