Expect a flurry of yards and backpedaling defenders on Sunday Night Football, when Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers host Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins in Week 14 of the NFL betting season.

The Chargers are 2-4 in their last six games following a 4-2 start and are one game out of the final spot in the AFC Playoffs. The Dolphins (8-4) are right in the mix of everything, one game behind the Bills atop the AFC East and one game in front of the Jets, who own the final spot in the AFC playoff bracket.

RELATED: NFL Week 14 Picks, Predictions And Best Bets

Miami is at -3 in the latest Dolphins vs. Chargers NFL odds, with a solid Over/Under of 52.5 points, the highest total of Week 14.

Bookies.com NFL handicapper Adam Thompson – who has hit on 61.7% of his NFL best bets all season, including 10-1 the last two weeks – reveals his best plays for this primetime matchup.

Dolphins vs. Chargers Point Spread Pick

When it comes to passing, both teams have a solid advantage against the other. Miami ranks 22nd vs. the pass, L.A. is 18th. Each team ranks top five in passing. One solid difference: The Dolphins have crushed some opponents but have scored 20 points or less in half their games.

Here’s an astonishing stat: Teams coming off a game against the 49ers are 0-10 against the spread the following week. The Dolphins fit into that category for Week 14. We like the Chargers, especially at +3.5, to bounce back.

Dolphins vs. Chargers Over/Under Best Bet

The teams don’t match up all the time, but when they do, the points haven’t flowed as freely as expected. The Under has hit in 12 of the last 14 matchups. But that’s old news. The current news is more relevant. The Over has hit in the last four Dolphins road games and is a big Chargers trend, on a 7-2 run at SoFi, including 4-0 vs. above-.500 teams.

At least one team has scored 30-plus points in the last five Dolphins outings, and Chargers games are averaging 51 ppg the last three weeks. It has us leaning Over on sports betting apps, but as a secondary pick for SNF.

Dolphins vs. Chargers Moneyline Pick

The Chargers rely more on their defense to be successful. When teams gain 375+ total yards against them, they’re 1-5. When opponents are held under that mark, the Chargers are 5-1.

Miami, for all its offensive firepower, has only gotten over 375 in half their games, feasting on four teams for 450-plus, but staying fairly mediocre against the rest. We know the Chargers should be better than their 6-6 record indicates. If going the moneyline route, L.A. at +145 has solid value.

Best Dolphins vs. Chargers Player Props

Tua Tagovailoa, Under 3.5 Rushing Yards

Odds: -115 at DraftKings

Over the last three weeks, Tua has attempted a total of zero rushing attempts. He’s not going anywhere. The Chargers are top 10 in containing moving QBs, and few are as stationary as the concussion-prone Tagovailoa. He has enough weapons to avoid the risk of the run.

Austin Ekeler, Under 100.5 Total Yards

Odds: -115 at DraftKings

Ekeler hasn’t gone over 100 total yards in five straight weeks. The last time he did, though, was also the last time the Chargers had Mike Williams and Keenan Allen available. They are both trending toward playing on Sunday. Still, Miami ranks No. 4 in rush yards allowed, and Ekeler’s play percentage dipped 10% last week with Joshua Kelley and Isaiah Spiller both healthy.
