The Cleveland Browns appear to be working on a deal to trade DE Myles Garrett following his Super Bowl-week request to be traded by the teams.
The onet-time Defensive Player of the Year posted a note that was shared on social media asking for the deal.
“While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl,” Garrett’s note read.
“With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.”
The Browns stumbled to a 3-14 finish this past season. The team used 4 quarterbacks as Deshaun Watson was lost for the season (and part of next season) after 7 games.
Garrett, 29, is a five-time Pro Bowler and just finished his 4th straight season with 14 or more sacks and his 7th consecutive season with double-digit QB takedowns.
He would be a valued addition to any NFL franchise. But Garrett won’t likely accept a trade to just any opponent. He’s made his intentions clear.
Garrett would be a terrific value for his next team. His salary cap hit this season is $19.72 million (via Spotrac). His current deal runs through 2026.

Myles Garrett's Next Team Analysis
Here's a look at the teams with the highest odds to have Myles Garrett on their roster in the 2025 season.
Detroit Lions +350
The Detroit Lions (+350) would be able to add Garrett to a defensive front that also includes Aidan Hutchinson. Assuming both would stay healthy, that front could be the most fearsome in the NFL. The injury-riddled Lions saw their defense crumble in the NFC Divisional Round. They got stomped by the Commanders 45-31. The Lions gave up 481 total yards of offense, 2 TD passes to Jayden Daniels, and 2 TD rushes to Brian Robinson.
Los Angeles Chargers +400
The Chargers (+400) boasted the best scoring defense in the regular season (17.7 PPG). Garrett and Joey Bosa could form another formidable defensive front. The Chargers reached the playoffs this season, only to lose 32-12 to the Texans in the Wild Card round. QB Justin Herbert threw 4 picks in that loss. The Chiefs have won the AFC West 8 years running. It's got to end sometime. Right?
Cleveland Browns +550
See above, mostly. The Browns will need to a solid return for Garrett. So this is more a back-stop. Or perhaps a pit stop until the in-season trade deadline.
Washington Commanders +650
The Commanders have their franchise QB in place with rookie Jayden Daniels. But Washington had the oldest roster of any of the 14 playoff teams. And it will be retooling on defense this offseason. At 29 and with 2 years left on his current deal, Garrett would be a terrific addition to a defense that gave up 118 rushing yards to Saquon Barkley in their playoff loss to Philly. And 296 yards to Barkley in their two regular season games.
Philadelphia Eagles +750
The Eagles shut down Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in the Super Bowl using just a four-man front. They never had to blitz in going up 34 points on 2 different occasions. But great teams always find a way to get better. It's clear Garrett would love to join the Super Bowl champs. And the Eagles may be willing to give up the No. 32 pick in the draft to make it happen. Especially given the value on Garrett's current contract.
New England Patriots +1000
The Patriots are undergoing another complete overhaul. But don't count them out here. Mike Vrabel is calling the shots in Foxboro this season and he spent last year working with the Browns as a special assistant. So there's likely a strong existing relationship. The Patriots could be willing give up their high second-round pick. But the lure here for Garrett would be the Patriots ability to offer him a new contract this season given their $129 million in cap space.
