Tip 2 - 1:42 Newmarket - Jimmy Speaking
On a hat trick after a couple of solid wins earlier this year, Jimmy Speaking seems to be in the midst of a comeback after a pretty disastrous end to last year that saw him finish 700 in his last three. He comfortably won at Doncaster in March on his 2026 debut and a 4lb rise wasn’t enough to stop him following that up at Southwell a couple of weeks ago, so even an extra 2lbs today shouldn’t deter him.

Tip 3 - 2:00 Newbury - Sacred Ground
No other filly in this race has the same experience in Listed affairs as Sacred Ground, who has finished second in both her efforts and although she was favourite in both, it’s certainly not enough to cast her aside. The three-year-old already beat one rival in today’s race - Esna - over this distance last time out and is preferred over the largely untested favourite Golden Orbit.

It’s been almost two years since the talented Shah was last on the track, but when he did run he looked like a very progressive sort. Since his last run he has had a wind-op and another type of op that would take the wind out of you so everything should be in place for him to take this. What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?
We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.
A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.
For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
