NFL Survivor Pools have exploded in popularity, and at levels for all kinds of NFL betting fans, from family pools to those with thousands of dollars in cash prizes on the line at betting sites. The simple nature of it is a major draw: Survivor Pools entail picking one team to win each week, but never picking the same team twice.

Last season, we went 16-1 and didn’t suffer our first defeat until Week 9. This season, much like the New England Patriots, we didn’t see the Miami Dolphins coming in Week 1. But, we’re back and ready to get on another run starting this week.

Remember, when making these NFL picks, it’s not how much your team wins by in a Survivor Pool. Simply, it's about picking a winner and moving on -- and sometimes saving the biggest NFL odds favorite for a future week. Here is the pick for Week 2.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

We took a bit of a leap in Week 1, and it looked good until the final minutes of the game, when Patriots running Damien Harris put the ball on the ground inside the 10-yard line. The Dolphins recovered, the Patriots never got the ball back, and we’re 0-1 following the 17-16 win.

Fortunately, most Survivor Pools offer one loss (some more), so we’re far from done. We lost the privilege to go bold this early in the season, however. Fortunately, Week 2 offers safe-sounding options.

The Buccaneers needed a big effort from Tom Brady and help from the Dallas kicker – and the officials – to hold off the Cowboys, 31-29, to open the season.

The Buccaneers host a Falcons team that not only lost to the underdog Eagles but lost 32-6 at home. The offense was dismal and the defense made Jalen Hurts look like Warren Moon. Atlanta’s offense can be better than it showed in Week 1, but keeping up with Brady and the Bucs score for score? Tampa is favored by nearly two TDs for a reason.

Other Week 2 contenders

Cleveland Browns: The Browns had the Chiefs on the ropes in KC. The Texans were a nice surprise in Week 1 vs. Jacksonville but pound-for-pound this remains a mismatch.

Green Bay Packers: Aaron Rodgers looked lost, and the Packers got squashed 38-3 by the Saints. Do we really expect a similar performance in their home opener against the Lions?
