Thursday Night Football this has an NFC South battle as the (1-6) Atlanta Falcons will take on the (3-4) Carolina Panthers. Both teams are coming off one-score defeats in Week 7 and are looking to get back on track. This is also the second meeting between these two teams as the Panthers won the first matchup, 23-16 in Atlanta on Oct. 11.

However, both offenses have played better since their initial meeting and this should be a fun, high-scoring game to kick off the week. To prepare you for that game, here are the NFL betting odds, picks and tips you need for Falcons-Panthers in Week 8.

Panthers vs Falcons Betting Analysis

Entering Week 8, the Falcons and Panthers are on the outside looking in for a playoff spot. Atlanta might be too far gone to contend in the NFC, but the Falcons have been in nearly every game this season and could easily be 4-3, if not for a few plays.

Not surprisingly, Carolina is a moneyline favorite at home on a short week. But this Panthers team isn't very talented. It has lost 12 of its past 15 games dating back to 2019 and its only wins have come against the Chargers, Cardinals and Falcons earlier in the season.

Speaking of that earlier season matchup, Carolina won 23-16 because of a 17-point second quarter in Atlanta. However, it's worth mentioning that Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones did not play in that game and he has historically dominated the Panthers.

It's also worth mentioning that Carolina has been an extremely poor home team as of late, losing six of its past seven games at Bank of America Stadium. Atlanta isn't a strong road team either, but it has had a lot of success against the Panthers recently, winning five of the past six meetings.

Despite their records, these two squads don't appear to be all that different. Considering the odds, don't be afraid to take the Falcons on the moneyline at FanDuel.

If the moneyline bet proves to be too risky, consider taking the Falcons +2.5 points. Atlanta has no problem staying in games, but the Falcons often find ways to lose at the end. This game could follow a similar path and it wouldn't be a shock if Carolina won by only a few points.

Betting on the Falcons is always terrifying, but they have a great chance to cover and win outright in Week 8 with their full assortment of weapons back on the field. Take +2.5 points with the best odds at DraftKings.

The total is set at 48.5 points and that feels right considering how explosive each offense can be in any given game. Atlanta is averaging more than 26 points per game this season and the Panthers' defense doesn't offer much resistance. The same can be said for the Falcons' defense, which allows nearly 30 points per game and struggles to create any pass-rush.

Expect both teams to score into the upper 20s and for the Over to hit. Both teams will want to play with tempo on offense and Thursday Night Football games tend to be a bit high-scoring. Don't be surprised if we have a shootout on our hands to kick off Week 8. Wager on the Over at FOX Bet.
