The Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns each have questions to be answered, notably at the quarterback position, as the two longtime rivals face off on Thursday Night Football to open Week 3 of the 2022 NFL betting season.

Mitchell Trubisky and Jacoby Brissett each rank in the bottom four in pass yards through two weeks. Fortunately for them, they’ll each face pass defenses that rank 27th or worse.

Cleveland, fresh off a shocking collapse to the Jets, is favored by 4.5 points in the latest Steelers vs. Browns odds. The Over/Under has been set at just 38.5 points, the lowest total in all of Week 3 on betting apps

Bookies.com NFL handicapper Adam Thompson – who has hit on a whopping 62-64% of his NFL picks three years running – reveals his best Steelers vs. Browns bets for the showdown on Thursday.

Steelers vs. Browns Point Spread Pick

The Steelers have dominated this series lately, and the Browns have only covered one of their last six home games. That certainly didn’t happen on Sunday, when they blew a 13-point lead in the final 90 seconds in a shocking 31-30 defeat at the hands of the Jets. Cleveland must get off to a solid start here or the boo-birds may come calling, just as they did as the Browns left the field in Week 2.

They should be fine here. Brissett is no magician, but Trubisky has been just as mediocre. Some of Trubisky’s issues can be found on an offensive line that can’t keep him protected and can’t even open lanes for Najee Harris. The Browns have a premier 1-2 RB punch. Cleveland has the edge. Back the Browns and lay the points at BetMGM for your Steelers vs. Browns best bets.

Steelers vs. Browns Over/Under Pick

This is the lowest total of the week on betting sites, and when you look at these QBs, you know why. But as mentioned, each QB also faces a bottom-tier pass defense. We know both defenses will focus on the run and force the QB to beat them. It could work here.

Simply put, this total is too low. The Under is the trend on both sides but a 24-17 game hits the Over by a couple of points. TJ Watt and Jadeveon Clowney being out doesn’t hurt the QB’s chances of getting the time to find the open man. Don’t bet the farm, but the Over is the play here. Steelers vs. Browns Moneyline Best Bet

The Steelers offense would love to own a run-first identity, but right now that’s not working, and Big Ben isn’t under center to toss moonballs to long receivers. Pittsburgh’s offense is averaging 17 ppg in regulation. That’s unlikely to cut it in Cleveland, which at least has the run game to control tempo.

Cleveland has put up 26 and 30 points. If it does so again, Pittsburgh may struggle to keep up. The latest NFL odds have the Browns at -200 on the moneyline; Brissett prevents us from going all-in on that, but we like the home team to get the win.

Best Steelers vs. Browns Player Props

Mitchell Trubisky, Over 1.5 Touchdowns

Odds: +200 at BetMGM ➜

We’re figuring in several factors, and Trubisky is only part of it. Let’s face it, the Steelers’ run game is not working; Najee Harris is averaging 2.9 yards per carry. Here it faces a Browns defense that ranks fourth in rush yards allowed and is giving up only 3.8 ypc.

On the flip side, Cleveland’s secondary just got torn up by Joe Flacco and the Jets. Baker Mayfield threw for one and ran for another the previous week. CB Greedy Williams is on injured reserve, and Edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney is out as well. If Trubisky can’t connect with Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool here, the Kenny Pickett Era may begin sooner than later. Secure this solid odds at BetMGM.

Kareem Hunt, Over 15.5 Receiving Yards

Odds: -110 at DraftKings ➜

Only five teams have allowed more receptions to running backs this season, only four teams have allowed more yards. That’s good news for Kareem Hunt, who had four receptions for 24 yards in Week 1 but was limited to two catches and 16 yards in Week 2.

Both those numbers are above the posted total for Week 3. Getting Hunt in the open field should be part of a Browns gameplan that faces the NFL’s 29th-ranked pass D but has a QB that looks short before he looks long. The best odds for this prop are at DraftKings.
