Tyreek Hill’s days with the Miami Dolphins may be over. Miami missed the playoffs and lost to the Jets 32-20 Sunday. It was the first time in his NFL career that a team with Hill had missed the postseason. Hill played with the Chiefs from 2016-21 before coming to South Florida for the 2022 season.

After the game Sunday, Hill told reporters he was unsure about his future with the Dolphins and was not happy with missing the playoffs.

"I don't even know, bro," Hill said Sunday. "This is the first time I haven't been in the playoffs. I mean for me, like I said man, I just gotta do what's best for me and my family, dawg. If that's here, or wherever the case may be, man, I'm going to open the door for myself, dawg. I'm opening the door. Like, I'm out, bruh."

There were rumors about dealing Hill during the season when Miami starting QB Tua Tagovailoa was injured. But Hill said at the time he wanted to stay with Miami.

At 30, Hill isn’t the dynamic force he once was. But he’d still be a coveted wide receiver by multiple teams in need of a No. 1 target.

Here are our NFL odds on where Hill will take his first snap in the 2025 season courtesy of Bookies.com Senior Handicapper Adam Thompson.

Where Will Tyreek Hill Play In 2025?

Monday, reports surfaced that Hill may have refused to play Sunday. That would only help grease his exit.

Still, Miami remains a small favorite here. For one, he is still under contract with the Dolphins through the 2026 season. Hill’s contract is also a potential poison pill for any potential suitors. He signed a 3-year, $90 million extension with Miami prior to the 2024 season. The Dolphins would have to eat a significant amount of dead cap space if they were to release Hill.

A trade is more likely than an outright release.

The Dolphins are set to pick 13th in the April draft. They also own a 2nd-round pick (at No.  48 overall), along with a 4th-round pick, two 5th-round picks, and a 7th-round pick. The Dolphins aren’t in desperate need of a draft. But the possibility of a 2nd or 3rd round pick – while getting Hill’s salary off the books – could be enticing enough.

Hill would give 2nd-year Washington QB Jayden Daniels a deep-threat target next season. But his mercurial tendencies could be detrimental to the young QB who is a lock to win Offensive Rookie of the Year honors this season. Hill might fit better with the Los Angeles Chargers. There, he’ll have both coach Jim Harbaugh and veteran QB Justin Herbert to help maintain discipline on and off the field.

Hill, for his part, clearly wants to move to a playoff contender. That’s why teams like the Chargers, Commanders, Steelers, and Packers make sense in this market. The combination of Hill and Jordan Love in Green Bay would warm hearts across Wisconsin in the chilly winter in spring months. And Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is nobody’s fool.
