3M Open 2022 Odds, Betting Tips & Expert Picks

Dan Kilbridge | 22 mins

Cameron Smith is the Champion Golfer of the Year after breaking millions of hearts by seizing the claret jug out of Rory McIlroy’s grasp Sunday in the final round of the British Open at St Andrews.
Thus caps another exceptional major golf season, with Smith, Scottie Scheffler and Matthew Fitzpatrick picking up their first career major victories. Justin Thomas also doubled his major tally with win No. 2 at the PGA Championship.
While the most prestigious and favorite golf betting events are done, the home stretch of the PGA Tour calendar is even more important for players on the bubble looking to secure status in 2023. That road begins at this week’s 3M Open in Minnesota, where a big opportunity awaits with just a handful of British Open participants making the trip.
Tony Finau is the golf odds favorite at +1100 after a T-28 finish at St Andrews. Sungjae Im, who made the cut but fell to T-81 over the weekend, is next at +1600 while Cameron Tringale, Adam Hadwin and Hideki Matsuyama are all next at +1800 odds on top sports betting sites board in Minnesota.

2022 3M Open Picks & Predictions
Nick Hardy Top-10 Finish
Odds: +400 at DraftKings ➜
These next few weeks are perhaps the most important of Hardy’s career. The 26-year-old broke through to earn his PGA Tour card after finishing top-50 on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2021. The 2018 Big Ten Player of the Year out of Illinois missed six of eight cuts at one point this spring, falling to 193 in the FedEx Cup rankings. It looked like his Tour stint would be a brief one.
Hardy has since made six consecutive cuts, all of them top-35 finishes with four top-25s and a T-13 at last week’s Baracuda Championship. That got him back to No. 132 on the list, just seven spots away from earning his Tour card again for 2023. He’ll be extremely motivated and this is a great spot to improve his standings against a relatively weak field.
The course should be a good fit, he’s in strong form and we love the way he’s fought in recent months. We’re on Hardy top-10 finish with +400 odds at DraftKings.
2022 3M Open Betting Tips
Conditions will be different than last week to say the least. TPC Twin Cities opened in 2000 and has played like a standard, modern Jack Nicklaus design. There’s plenty of water and length, with distance off the tee a big bonus as seen by past winners and contenders like Matthew Wolff, Cameron Champ, Bryson DeChambeau, etc.
This is another good week to take a few shots further down the betting board. The field is extremely top-heavy with just a few big names, and guys fighting for status will be willing to take risks at a course where you need to make a lot of birdies to contend.
There are only three par-5s here, all of them listed between 590-600 yards, and players will need to take advantage every day. Distance off the tee is important, but accuracy is essential as well with a lot of troublesome spots just off the fairways.
We’ll be targeting strong tee players who thrive on the par-5s, and we’ll likely try to avoid most players who are making the long flight back from Scotland straight to Minnesota.
