As the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup takes center stage on the international sporting scene, DraftKings is making the epic event a little more exciting by offering daily fantasy with it. For the first time ever, customers will be able to play DFS for women’s soccer as the tournament, which ends July 7, transpires.
Classic, Showdown Soccer Contests Available
In terms of what will be available, DraftKings will post DraftKings Classic and Showdown contests for the World Cup matches, the company announced in a press release. Participants construct a lineup of six players while staying within a $50,000 salary cap. In that lineup, you’ll choose one player to be your captain, who’ll earn a bonus multiplier with that designation.
Customers who participate in the Classic contests can choose players for their roster across multiple matches and teams, whereas customers opting for the Showdown contests choose players from a single match.

DraftKings Offers Match Betting Too
If you’re looking for some more traditional soccer betting action, DraftKings sportsbook has betting lines on all of the action as well. That means you’ll find three-way moneylines, regular moneylines and totals for every single game. Futures are also available; those lines will allow bettors to predict who will win the event outright.
Of course, keep in mind that betting the matches will only be available where sports betting is legal. That includes the states of New Jersey and Mississippi in the United States. Customers in Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia will also get to dive into the action.

Public Money Favors U.S in Women’s World Cup
The American women’s team is ranked No. 1 in the world and is favored to win the event in France. That’s not a huge surprise when you consider that the Americans have held the top spot in the rankings in 11 of the last 12 years. On top of that, they’re the defending champions. They’ve also been the most heavily bet team to win it all, according to DraftKings.
“The U.S. women by far are receiving the most action to win it all by far. They are currently at 7-2 odds,” said Johnny Avello, Head of Sportsbook at DraftKings.
The roster is loaded with experience as eight players on the 23-woman roster have played more than 100 appearances in international games. Those eight players have combined for a whopping 334 goals.
The Americans have some tough competition though, as teams like France, Germany and England are expected to push for the title. Of course, France and the United States will be popular bets as the main favorites but remember that, if form holds, they could square off in the quarterfinals. Only one of them can make it to the semis and beyond.
Could that mean that there’s value with some longer shots? One that could make a push could be the Netherlands, who has made a lot of progress since 2015. Remember, they did really well in the European Championships, winning all three of its knockout round games by combined score of 9-2.
The tournament has started, so this is a good time to head over to DraftKings to get a piece of the action either in DFS or on the betting lines.
