The PGA Tour is heading to the house that Jack built for this week’s Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village.

This is Jack Nicklaus’ most impressive design and one of the best golf betting tournaments around, with plenty of course history and typically-thrilling finishes for the annual tour stop in Dublin, Ohio.

Defending champion Jon Rahm is the heavy betting favorite with the top sportsbooks at +1150, coming off his thrilling 2020 playoff victory over Dustin Johnson. Viktor Hovland and Justin Thomas are next at +1500, while Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele and Jordan Spieth are all available at +1650 with many of the best sports betting sites.

Memorial Tournament Expert Picks & Predictions

Kyle Stanley Top-10 Finish (+800, BetMGM)

Stanley is finding some consistency with four consecutive cuts made, and the irons were on point last week when he led the field in Strokes Gained Approach at Colonial. That’s easily the most important stat for Muirfield Village and Nicklaus designs in general.

Stanley is also very comfortable on this golf course. He has three top 10s in seven Memorial starts, including a T-2 in 2018 and solo third in 2013. Playing a fairways-and-greens game definitely helps him, and he’s 15th in greens in regulation this season. We’re on Stanley for another top-10 finish this week at +800 with BetMGM.

Memorial Tournament Betting Tips

There aren’t many secrets at Muirfield Village. The course isn’t overly long, but punishing rough surrounds almost every fairway and places a premium on accuracy off the tee. Wayward tee shots usually result in very stressful approach shots, and most players will need to lay up when missing the fairway on par-5s.

Iron play is extremely important with so much water and tons of tricky spots around the greens. Guys with tremendous scrambling ability, like Patrick Reed, traditionally do well here, as do the pure ballstrikers. Putting isn’t as important as it is other weeks, so it’s alright to back guys who aren’t the best on the greens.

Mostly, we’re looking at the best irons players and avoiding the bomb-and-gouge crowd this week. It’s not easy to fake it around here and the big numbers will add up in a hurry for guys who aren’t sharp tee-to-green.
