Week 8 of the NFL betting season delivers a matchup of the top 2 QBs – and players – taken in the 2024 NFL Draft. And the past 2 Heisman Trophy winners.

The Chicago Bears visit Washington in the CBS national game at 4:25 p.m. The Bears nabbed Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in April. And the Commanders selected Jayden Daniels as the second pick. Williams won the 2022 Heisman with Southern Cal, and Daniels won it last year out of LSU.

The 2 rookies have shone early in the season. They began their NFL careers a combined 8-2 ATS through Week 6. Both teams have had their byes.

Week 8 begins with the 5-0 Minnesota Vikings visiting SoFi Stadium and the Rams. Expect the NFL’s newest venue to be packed with a Purple and Yellow clad throng of Minnesota transplants and folks visiting the West Coast.

CBS, as noted above, has the national game at 4:25 p.m. this week.

The 49ers will pick at the carcass of the Dallas Cowboys a Levi’s Stadium on Sunday night. And we’re mercifully back to just one game on Monday night when the New York Giants visit Pittsburgh. There are no teams on the bye this week.

2024 NFL Week 8 Best Bets

NFL Week 8 Picks, Betting Predictions & Best Bets To Back 1

Thursday, October 24
Minnesota at Los Angeles Rams, 8:15 p.m. (Prime Video)

Buzz: The Vikings saw their perfect season hit its first roadblock in a hard-fought 31-29 loss to the Lions. The Rams are slogging their way through injuries and barely beat the bereft Raiders. Expect SoFi to be clad in Purple and Gold as the masses from Minnesota relocate to Inglewood for the weekend. The Rams were worst in the NFL against the pass heading into Week 7. Sam Darnold and company could put up some impressive numbers on this inside track. Especially after their near miss against Detroit.

Best Bet: Vikings -3 (+100) at Caesars Sportsbook

Sunday, October 27
Philadelphia Eagles at Cincinnati Bengals, 1 p.m. (CBS)

Buzz: The Bengals are a surprise favorite here. They’ve appeared to have gotten on track – and won their third-straight this past weekend. This time smacking the Browns. Philly looks to run the ball and eat the clock. Joey B. wants to sling it. The Eagles won’t be able to keep pace here. Philly has lost 5 straight against the AFC North.

Best Bet: Bengals ML (-145) at Caesars Sportsbook

Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns, 1 p.m. (CBS)

Buzz: It’s always challenging to reconcile a big spread (10) with a relatively low total (42.5 here). NFL games averaged more than 48 points in Week 6 and the Ravens were 5-1 on the over in their first 6 games. The Browns dealt away Amari Cooper. That’s pretty much a white flag on this season. The move was providential given that Deshaun Watson left Sunday's loss with an an apparent season-ending Achilles tendon injury. The Ravens dominate the line of scrimmage and may end up running the ball 30+ times. And pitch a shutout along the way.

Best Bet: Under 44.5 Points (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 1 p.m. (FOX)

Buzz: The Falcons won Round 1 of the 2024 Series between these two teams 23 days ago. Kirk Cousins shredded the Bucs’ defense by throwing for 509 yards and 4 TDs in a 36-30 OT win. The Buccaneers will need Baker Mayfield to avoid any mistakes or turnovers. Tampa Bay will be coming off a Monday night game against the Ravens. The Falcons got their wings clipped at home against Seattle. This has a 24-20 sort of feel.

Best Bet: Buccaneers ML (+118) at Caesars Sportsbook

Arizona Cardinals at Miami Dolphins, 1 p.m. (FOX)

Buzz: The Tua Watch continues. This total of 47.5 points hints that oddsmakers believe he may be back for this one. The Dolphins have said as much. Otherwise, we’re not sure these 2 teams could combine for that many points in 2 games. The Dolphins defense is the quiet story here. Miami was 3rd against the pass in the NFL ahead of its Week 6 game. And it kept the Dolphins in the game in their 16-10 loss to the Colts. Miami can win and cover here with or without Tua. This number edged up to 3 on Monday given the optimism over Tua's return.

Best Bet: Dolphins -3 (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

New York Jets at New England Patriots, 1 p.m. (CBS)

Buzz: A train wreck meets a plane crash. And no one can turn away. The Jets have already fired their coach and brought in Davante Adams. All that resulted in another calamitous loss - this one a 37-15 embarrassment at the hands of the host the Steelers Sunday night. Aaron Rodgers keeps running out of fingers to point. Meanwhile, the Patriots were declared officially "soft" by coach Jerod Mayo after they were doubled up by the Jaguars in London. Aside from rookie QB Drake Maye, the Patriots could well dump their entire roster and coaching staff and no one would notice. The Patriots have lost an unimaginable 7 straight at home and are on an 0-6 slide ATS. This one might be pulled off the air by the FCC due to unsuitable content. Where's "Heidi" when you need her? Still . . . Maye has thrown 5 TD passes in 2 games, against just 2 picks. The Patriots' defense is putrid against the run. And Rodgers is still (for now) Rodgers.

Best Bet: Over 41.5 Points (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

Tennessee Titans at Detroit Lions, 1 p.m. (FOX)

Buzz: The Lions have shown a proclivity to run up the score – see Week 6 at Dallas. They have another chance this week. And they're sky high after upending the Vikings as 1-point underdogs - and moving into first place in the NFC North. The Lions are 5-1 ATS this season but have not covered on a line greater than 5 points. Still, this is the time of year when the top-tier teams begin to flex. And the bottom-tier teams tend to quit. The 1-5 Titans are in the midst of another annual free-fall. Tennessee switched QBs this week - pulling in Mason Rudolph for Will Levis. It didn't help as the impotent Titans failed to score at least 18 points for the fifth time this season in a 34-10 loss to Buffalo Sunday. This one could get ugly in the 2nd half. We grabbed the Lions -9. This number has moved 2.5 points since.

Best Bet: Lions -11 (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

Green Bay Packers at Jacksonville Jaguars, 1 p.m. (FOX)

Buzz: Thanks to some help from the Patriots' defense - or lack thereof - the Jaguars saved coach Doug Pederson's job and perhaps their season on Sunday in London with a 32-16 win over New England. The Packers clipped Houston at home 27-24 thanks to a field goal on the game's final play. But the Texans moved the ball well on the ground against Green Bay. The Jaguars will look to do the same. The Jaguars have lost 8 straight against the NFC North. Meanwhile, the Packers have failed to cover in 6 straight vs. the AFC - including Sunday at home. Something's gotta give. A warm, humid day helps the home team.

Best Bet: Jaguars +4.5 (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans, 1 p.m. (FOX)

Buzz: The Texans might have to carry this total all by themselves.

Best Bet: Under 46.5 Points (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

New Orleans Saints at Los Angeles Chargers, 4:05 p.m. (FOX)

Buzz: The Saints have lost 5 straight. And Derek Carr won't be back this week. Spencer Rattler's rookie learning curve has been steep. He's struggled in both his games. The Saints may be mulling a shift to Jake Haener at the QB spot. The Chargers played Arizona Monday night. Defense has been their strength this season. Heading into Week 7, the Chargers had not allowed more than 20 points in a game. We'll bite on the under here, but this might move after Monday.

Best Bet: Under 40 Points. (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

Buffalo Bills at Seattle Seahawks, 4:05 p.m. (FOX)

Buzz: The Bills have 4 very winnable games between now and when they play the Chiefs on November 17. Buffalo rolled through Tennessee Sunday 34-10. Seattle isn’t what it used to be at home, covering just once at home this year against the Dolphins. It scored an impressive win on the road at Atlanta in Week 7. Thanks in large part to its defense. The Bills won't make the same mistakes that aided the Seahawks on Sunday. They can play keep-away and force Geno Smith to throw. That’s a winning formula, even 2500 miles from home. The Bills have won 7 straight against the NFC.

Best Bet: Bills -3 (-102) at Caesars Sportsbook

Chicago Bears at Washington Commanders, 4:25 p.m. (CBS)

Buzz: No. 1 2024 draft pick Caleb Williams vs. No. 2 2024 draft pick Jayden Daniels. Get used to it. It’s not “Tom vs. Peyton.” Yet. But this QB matchup could well dominate the next 2 decades. These back-to-back Heisman Trophy winners face each other’s defense (see what we did there) for the first time. And both the Bears and Commanders are in the throes of the NFC playoff chase. These 2 well-matched teams balance each in near perfection. No surprise this one is a near pick ‘em. The Bears have just enough of an edge on defense. Daniels sat during much of Sunday's rout over the Panthers after suffering a rib injury. Daniels' mother posted via social media that “he's fine,” but coach Dan Quinn said the Commanders will have a further update Monday.

Best Bet: Bears ML (-120) at Caesars Sportsbook

Carolina Panthers at Denver Broncos, 4:25 p.m. (CBS)

Buzz: Denver’s defense has given Bo Nix significant cover this season as he makes his way up the learning curve. The Broncos were 4-2 on the line in their first 6 games. The Panthers appear to have given up and have another road game after suffering a 40-7 beatdown in Landover. Denver's defense is 3rd in the NFL in terms of scoring, allowing just 15.1 PPG. The Panthers, meanwhile, are scoring just 15.7 PPG. The home crowd will urge them on for a possible shutout. We jumped on this early line when it was Denver -4. It has since moved to 7.5

Best Bet: Broncos -4 (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

Kansas City Chiefs at Las Vegas Raiders, 4:25 p.m. (CBS)

Buzz: The NFL’s biggest attraction - Patrick Mahomes - headlines at Allegiant Stadium for one night only. Expect lots of well-lit red inside the stadium and out on the Strip. The bad news – Taylor Swift will be performing in a different indoor stadium that night – the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. The Chiefs aren’t into big wins – their defense is carrying the load this season as it did in Sunday's 28-18 Super Bowl rematch win over the 49ers. The Raiders may not get into the end zone. QB Gardner Minshew took over for an injured Aidan O'Connell and turned the ball over 4 times in a 20-15 loss to the Rams.

Best Bet: Under 42.5 Points (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

Dallas Cowboys at San Francisco 49ers, 8:20 p.m. (NBC)

Buzz: Will Bill Belichick will be coaching the Cowboys this week? Someone needs to ask Jerry Jones about his coach just 2 or 3 more times before we get a complete on-air breakdown. It’s hard to imagine the bye helping Dallas given their perilous state. With Halloween coming up, perhaps the Cowboys will come dressed as a fully functional pro football team. The 49ers will be able to get their offense moving again after facing the Chiefs.

Best Bet: 49ers -4.5 (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

Monday, October 28
New York Giants at Pittsburgh Steelers, 8:15 p.m. (NBC)

Buzz: Who will Rooney Mara (Phoenix) and Kate Mara root for tonight? Their NFL DNA is stacked. The sisters and actresses are the great-granddaughters of New York Giants founder Tim Mara and Steelers founder Art Rooney Sr. Pittsburgh gets another bite a the Big Apple this week. Sunday night, the Steelers overwhelmed the Jets 37-15. This time, the Giants come to town. Big Blue was black and blue after a 28-3 trouncing at the hands of the Eagles. Thankfully for the Giants, most of the Tri-State area will be fixated on Game 3 of the World Series in the Bronx. These 2 teams are 4-10 on the under, but the Steelers were able to score on the Jets and could well do the same here. So, we'll just ride with the home team and give the points.

Best Bet: Steelers -6 (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook
