It is time again to hand out our MLS Best Bet of the weekend for MLS betting fans.

The first weekend of August features a full round of MLS action, and things are heating up on and off the field as the summer months roll on.

All 24 teams will be in action this weekend with the bulk of the games being played on Saturday, and there is about a third of a season left to play before the playoffs begin.

Our soccer betting game of the week comes from one of the Saturday games taking place, and it comes from our favorite little destination with the largest outdoor bar in the country. That’s right, we are stopping at Avaya Stadium for a play on the last game of the night in San Jose between the Earthquakes and Columbus Crew.

San Jose vs. Columbus - Total Over 3 @ -110 with 888Sport

The folks at 888Sport have left us a little room for a play on the total in San Jose, and hopefully, it stays at -110 long enough for you to take advantage of it.

San Jose and Columbus being on the same field this weekend make this an easy spot to turn in search of our winner this weekend. The Earthquakes reeled off 4 straight wins and they have made scoring look easy at times all throughout this season.

While everyone is talking about what LAFC is doing on the offensive end of the field this season, San Jose is quietly sitting with 39 goals with the second-highest output in the Western Conference. As the goals are going in the oppositions net, the Quakes have struggled to keep the ball out of their own net as well, and this is not something new to us around here for our readers to know. Time and time again in the early season we were tossing around San Jose totals and watching them splash home like clockwork, so back to the well we go for this play on the total.

Columbus isn’t getting Zack Steffen back anytime soon, and that was quite a move to make for the Crew who are sitting well down the Eastern Conference standings entering this weekend. The modest two-game win streak is something to build on, but Columbus has been terrible on the road this year allowing 19 goals in 11 away games.

In addition, we have to consider how the two teams are playing at the moment, and they are each scoring and struggling with their defensive communication as well. That leads to good things for us off the field and bad things for them on the pitch, which is exactly how we like it!

This game is also featuring a +135 on the 1st Half Over 1.5 goals, and as usual, I always offer a bonus play every weekend for our readers.

Expect 2 goals in the first half to cash ticket number 1 with that lovely line attached to the action, and then enjoy another pair of goals in the second frame to make it a 2-for-1 special on the totals!
