The UFC returns for its 10th event of 2021 on Saturday night. Compared to some of their recent outings, UFC Vegas 22 is a bit demure, but the main event is a sensational middleweight bout with possible title implications attached and some great UFC betting opportunities.

Derek Brunson is the seventh-ranked middleweight contender and riding a three-fight win streak, all against rising prospects. He’ll get the chance to run that streak up to four in a row when he faces 2020 Fighter of the Year runner up Kevin Holland, who secured five wins last year. Champion Israel Adesanya is returning to the middleweight division following his failed light heavyweight title bid, and Saturday's bout puts the winner of this fight on the shortlist of his possible next contenders.

While the main event of UFC Vegas 22 is a fight between two top-10 ranked competitors attempting to position themselves for a title shot, the rest of the card is comprised of a number of rising stars looking to earn the kind of big win that gets them a chance to make the leap to where Brunson and Holland are. Gregor Gillespie, Brad Riddell, Macy Chiasson, Grant Dawson, Trevin Giles and Roman Dolidze are all promising prospects with plenty to prove on Saturday. It should make for a fun evening of betting.

UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs Holland Betting Analysis & Best Bet

Brunson might be destined to be a fighter who is overlooked despite a stellar resume. Since joining the UFC in 2012, he has only lost to the elite of the elite in the middleweight division, yet people still consistently underrate his ability. Brunson can do a little of everything in the cage and, more important, he knows how to mix up his offense to keep fighters on the back foot.

Holland, meanwhile, doesn’t mind being on the back foot, or even on his back. Holland is content to throw offense from anywhere. That worked out for him all of last year, but now he’ll be doing it against a guy who won’t allow him any opportunity to breathe.

We saw against Darren Stewart that if Holland can’t hurt you, he’s not nearly as good at just winning rounds. That’s a bad matchup against a guy who is entirely comfortable with taking what his opponent gives him. Brunson is the physically stronger man and I expect him to corral Holland against the fence and wear down the more dynamic fighter. As the fight goes into the fourth and fifth rounds, Holland will fade and Brunson will derail yet another hype train. Take Brunson to win the fight.

Gregor Gillespie vs. Brad Riddell: Gillespie is a four-time Division-I All-American wrestler and national champion and had many people picking him as the next big thing in the lightweight division. A kick upside the head from Kevin Lee in 2019 temporarily halted that hype, but Gillespie’s wrestling and power is far too much for the game but overmatched Riddell. Gillespie is -250 at FOX Bet and should be considered excellent parlay fodder if not a straight-up pick.

Macy Chiasson vs. Marion Reneau: Chiasson is the new breed of female prospects in MMA. Huge, athletic and powerful, Chiasson is still rounding out her skill set, but the physicality she brings to the cage is more than enough to see her past Reneau. Aside from being the more powerful fighter, Chiasson also brings a much higher work rate that the 43-year-old Reneau won’t be able to keep up with. Chiasson is -225 at FOX Bet and should be considered for a parlay. Her KO/TKO odds of +400 are also intriguing.
